As the federal case against Sean “Diddy” Combs unfolds, a growing list of witnesses and courtroom attendees paint a complex, often chilling portrait of life inside the mogul’s inner circle. From bombshell allegations of abuse and sex trafficking to public figures offering support from the gallery, here’s a guide to the central and peripheral figures in USA vs. Sean Combs – including those who have testified, those who soon may take the stand and those seated in silent support.
Key Witnesses
Cassie Ventura
Diddy’s former partner, model-singer-actress Cassie Ventura, has been central to the prosecution’s case. She testified about years of alleged abuse, including coercion into non-consensual sex acts, physical violence and control through threats and surveillance. Ventura was heavily pregnant during her testimony and just gave birth to her third child with husband Alex Fine. Ventura previously filed a civil lawsuit against Combs in 2023 that was settled within 24 hours, but the allegations led to a criminal investigation, as well as dozens of lawsuits from other people making similar claims about Combs. During the trial, Ventura revealed she’d settled with Combs for $20 million.
Regina Ventura
Cassie’s mother, Regina, has corroborated her daughter’s claims, recounting a 2011 email from Cassie about Combs threatening to release explicit videos unless he was paid $20,000 as compensation for his investment in Cassie’s career. She testified that she and her husband Rodrick Ventura took out a home equity loan to pay Combs, but that days later the money was returned. Cassie was dating rapper Kid Cudi at the time, and Combs was upset about it. Regina also documented her daughter’s injuries with photographs.

Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi
Actor, rapper and musician Kid Cudi described his harrowing experience with Combs after briefly dating Cassie Ventura in 2011. He testified that Diddy broke into his home and tampered with security cameras and, later, his Porsche was firebombed with a Molotov cocktail. At one point Cudi likened Combs behavior to that of a “Marvel supervillain,” when describing how the mogul stood, waiting with his hands behind his back while staring out a window when he arrived to meet with him and discuss their issues.
Dawn Richard
Former Danity Kane and Diddy — Dirty Money singer Dawn Richard testified about witnessing Combs assault Ventura with a skillet full of eggs and, on another occasion, punch her in the stomach. Richard also claims that the day after she and another woman witnessed Combs try to hit Ventura with the skillet, Combs told them “we could go missing” if either talked about what they’d seen. Richard told the courtroom she interpreted the comment as a death threat.
Richard filed her own lawsuit alleging sexual and verbal abuse by Combs last September, just days before he was arrested on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs’ legal team filed to dismiss Richard’s civil suit Friday, May 16, before she took the stand to testify, citing the statute of limitations and accusing the singer of trying to use negative press about Combs to leverage a settlement from him for herself.

Kerry Morgan
Ventura’s former best friend and roommate was called to the stand to testify about multiple alleged incidents where she witnessed Combs physically attack and belittle Ventura. Morgan testified that she encouraged Ventura to report the 2016 hotel incident to police and leave, but Ventura was too fearful of potential consequences to her career and livelihood. Morgan also detailed her own violent run-in with Combs in 2018, alleging he tried strangling her and hit her in the head with a wooden hanger. After Morgan told Ventura she planned to sue Diddy, Ventura allegedly had her sign an NDA in exchange for $30,000. Ventura took Diddy’s side in the episode, accusing Morgan of ‘milking’ and ‘overexaggerating’ the attack, Morgan testified. After 17 years of friendship, both Morgan and Ventura testified they haven’t spoken since the incident.
Mylah Morales
Ventura’s former makeup artist, Mylah Morales, testified about a 2010 incident where she found Ventura with a swollen eye and bloody lip after Diddy allegedly assaulted her. Morales took Ventura to her home and consulted a doctor friend, who advised emergency care, though Ventura declined hospital treatment.
David James
Diddy’s former personal assistant from 2007 to 2009, David James, testified about procuring prescription drugs for Diddy, preparing hotel rooms for “freak-off” events and witnessing Diddy’s controlling behavior towards Ventura. James also testified that the senior vp, human resources told him in his job interview, “this is Mr. Combs’ kingdom” and “we’re all here to serve him.”
George Kaplan
Kaplan, who worked as Diddy’s assistant from 2013 to 2015, described being frequently threatened by Diddy and detailed disturbing scenes he witnessed, including assaults and bizarre post-party cleanups. Kaplan was granted immunity to testify after he told the court he planned to invoke his Fifth Amendment rights to avoid self-incrimination. He said the mogul would sometimes ask him to deliver a “medicine kit” to his hotel room containing prescription pills and over-the-counter pain meds. He also testified Diddy would send him to buy narcotics, including MDMA. Kaplan resigned after seeing Diddy allegedly attack Ventura in 2015 aboard a private jet.
Daniel Phillip
The former male escort and professional stripper testified that, beginning in 2012, he was paid to have sex with Ventura while Combs watched and gave instructions. He also told jurors he witnessed Combs drag a screaming Ventura by her hair. Combs’ defense attorney suggested Phillip wanted to get Ms. Ventura away from Combs because he had his own romantic feelings for her. He denied any such plans but admitted he was attracted to Ventura.

Sharay Hayes
An exotic dancer and performer known as “The Punisher,” who was allegedly involved in Diddy’s orchestrated events. Hayes testified about being hired to participate in Diddy’s “freak-off” parties.
Capricorn Clark
Before breaking for Memorial Day weekend, prosecutors revealed Diddy’s former assistant and marketing director Capricorn Clark would take the stand, with Clark testifying this week. Clark, who made appearances alongside Combs on his MTV show I Want To Work For Diddy and is credited as a producer on that title as well as Diddy: Dirty Money – The Final Days, was a fixture in the Bad Boy founder’s circle between 2005-2013 but has since retreated to a more private life.

Kim Porter
Combs’ late girlfriend, the mother of his adopted son Quincy Brown, biological son Christian and twin daughters Jessie and D’Lila. Like Ventura, Porter was a successful model who had an on-again, off-again relationship with Diddy. Ventura admitted on the stand to feeling jealous toward Porter and said she was upset Combs spent holidays with Porter and their kids and not with her. She also described an occasion where Combs left a “freak-off” with her to see Porter at another hotel.
Combs’ attorney Teny Geragos told the court Ventura broke up with Combs in 2018 after Kim Porter’s funeral when she realized he would never marry her.
