Adventure Ideas Movie Locations: Explore the Worlds Most Cinematic Places.

Okay, so I wanted to spice things up a bit, you know? Get out of my routine and do something… adventurous. I had this idea to check out some cool movie locations, places where they filmed famous adventure scenes. Real “Indiana Jones” type stuff, but, like, in real life.

First, I brainstormed. I needed a list of movies with awesome locations. Think big landscapes, exotic places, that sort of thing. Obvious choices were like, the “Lord of the Rings” movies (New Zealand!), “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” and maybe some of those “Pirates of the Caribbean” flicks.

My Movie Location Research

Then the real work began. I started by reading through some travel blogs and I found a few that looked promising. I also googled “famous adventure movie locations.” I found tons of lists, some were useful, many not so much.

I narrowed it down based on a few things:

  • How easy was it to get there? I’m not exactly a mountain climber, so super remote places were out.
  • Was it safe? I’m all for adventure, but I also like coming home in one piece.
  • Could I actually see something cool? Some locations are, like, just a random field now. No thanks.

I spent hours going through websites, looking at photos, and reading reviews. Seriously, it took way longer than I thought! I made a spreadsheet (yes, I’m that person) to keep track of everything: movie, location, accessibility, cost, and “coolness factor” (totally scientific, I know).

My Top Picks (So Far!)

After all that research, I picked a few locations that seemed doable and super interesting. Petra, Jordan (from “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”) is high on the list. It looks absolutely incredible, but it would need to be the most amazing. Then there’s Matamata, New Zealand (Hobbiton from “Lord of the Rings”). That one’s a must-see, for sure and easy to get to. I’m still deciding on a third. Maybe somewhere in Scotland? They’ve filmed tons of stuff there.

It’s taking planning, but I’ve decided and will start with Matamata, New Zealand. The first step done!
