Could Alan Cumming‘s Nightcrawler and Pedro Pascal‘s Mister Fantastic be having a showdown in Avengers: Doomsday?

While details surrounding the Phase Six installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are being kept under wraps, that didn’t stop The Traitors host from seemingly accidentally teasing some potential action in the upcoming film.

“I was learning stunts yesterday for some fight scene and I just think, I’m 60 years old. 23 years ago, I played that superhero,” Cumming said in a video interview with Buzzfeed UK. “I was kind of old for a superhero even then. And now I’m back doing it. And that, to me, is hilarious.”

He continued, “I’m sort of learning these fights and I’m like, ‘What? Who am I fighting with?’ And they said, ‘You’re hitting Pedro Pascal against the head,’ or something.”

Cumming is reprising his Nightcrawler role in Avengers: Doomsday after debuting it in 2003’s X2: X-Men United. As for Pascal, he will return as Mister Fantastic after introducing his character in The Fantastic Four: First Steps this summer.

While Cumming didn’t share any additional context surrounding the alleged fight sequence, some intense action can be expected in the Russo brothers’ blockbuster, especially thanks to Nightcrawler’s teleportation powers and Mister Fantastic’s superhuman elasticity.

The Avengers: Doomsday cast also includes Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Danny Ramirez (The Falcon), Winston Duke (M’Baku), Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), Lewis Pullman (Bob), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), Vanessa Kirby (The Invisible Woman), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing) and Joseph Quinn (The Human Torch), among many others.

The superhero film hits theaters on May 1, 2026.
