Alright, so the other day, I got it in my head that I wanted to check out some Masonic movies. You know, those films that kinda give you a peek into the secret world of the Freemasons. So I thought, “Why not see what Netflix has?” ‘Cause, you know, Netflix has everything, right?
First, I grabbed my laptop, hopped on the couch, and fired up Netflix. I typed in “Inside the Freemasons” in the search bar, just to see what would pop up. And bam, there it was, a whole TV series called “Inside the Freemasons.” That was an easy start. I hit play, and the first episode started rolling.
The show was pretty interesting. It talked about the different degrees in Freemasonry, like the Thirty-third Degree, which is apparently a big deal for folks who’ve really done a lot for the organization or their communities. It’s all about being a stand-up guy and living that “Brotherhood of Man” life. I didn’t know they had something like that, but cool. It was also mentioned that Boaz in the Book of Ruth also used to illustrate how we should treat people and how important it is to fulfill our obligations in life. The meaning of the name is usually given in Freemasonry as “in him is strength”.
They also got into some of the rituals and symbols, which was kinda cool to see. They mentioned how Masonic music is a big part of their meetings, with songs and all that. This is the first time for me to know that there are two major types of music used in masonic lodges are lodge songs, played to keyboard accompaniment before or after meetings. So I just sat there, soaking it all in, feeling like I was getting a little glimpse into this secret society.
But I wanted more than just a documentary series. I was itching for some action, some drama, you know? So after I finished a few episodes, I started poking around for movies. I recalled someone once mentioning “National Treasure” had some Masonic stuff in it. So I searched for that, and sure enough, there it was.
I started watching “National Treasure,” and it was a wild ride. Treasure hunters, secret clues, the whole nine yards. It wasn’t just about Masons, but they were definitely part of the story. I was hooked. I ended up watching the whole thing in one sitting.
After that, I was on a roll. I did some more digging and found out that there are tons of movies that at least touch on Freemasonry. From romantic comedies to action-packed thrillers, they’ve got it all. So, I made myself a little watchlist.
It’s funny, this whole thing started because I was just curious about Masonic movies on Netflix. And now, I’ve got a whole list of films to check out and a bit more knowledge about Freemasonry. Not bad for a lazy afternoon on the couch, huh? I guess you never know what you’ll get into when you start exploring.
