You know, I heard folks talkin’ ’bout them pop figures horror movies. Sounds kinda spooky to me. I ain’t never seen one of them movies, but my grandkids, they sure do love ’em. They always talkin’ about them characters and them little figures they collect. I seen ’em, they look kinda scary, all them monsters and such.
They got all sorts, I reckon. That pop figures horror, like that fella with the mask, you know the one. And that other one with the claws, he looks right mean. My grandson, he’s got a whole shelf full of them things. He calls ’em collectibles. Says they’re worth somethin’. I told him he should be savin’ his money for somethin’ useful, but he just laughs. Kids these days.
They like them horror movie figures so much. Those little statues, what do they call them? Oh yeah, Funko! That’s it, them Funko Pop things. They got one for every movie, it seems. They buy them online, those shirts they got online, they got them scary pictures on them. Then they put them little toys on their shelves. It’s somethin’ else. These kids, they love ’em.
And they watch them movies, too. The horror movies, they call ’em. All that screamin’ and yellin’. Gives me the willies just thinkin’ about it. I don’t see the appeal, myself. I’d rather watch a nice story about a farm, or somethin’ peaceful. But the kids, they eat it up. They say it’s fun to be scared. I don’t get it.
They tell me they go to them stores, they go hunting them horror action figures. They go to look at them things. They try to find rare ones, special ones, they say. They even got them big ones, them NECA action figures, they call them. Bigger than my hand, some of ’em! And they cost a pretty penny, too. More than I’d spend on groceries in a week!
- They got that one with the hockey mask.
- And the one with the burnt face, he’s a real fright.
- Then there’s that creepy doll, don’t even get me started on that one.
- They even got ones from them old movies, the ones I used to watch when I was a little girl, when I was younger.
And these horror movie shirts, they’re somethin’ else. Black shirts with all them scary faces on ’em. My granddaughter, she wears ’em all the time. Says they’re cool. I told her she’d scare the crows away wearin’ somethin’ like that. She just rolled her eyes at me. Teenagers!
So these pop figures horror movies, they’re a big deal, I guess. Everywhere you look, there they are. In the stores, online, on the TV. Can’t escape ’em. And the kids, they just keep buyin’ ’em. Spendin’ all their money on them little plastic monsters. It’s a crazy world, I tell ya.
I remember, my granddaughter show me where to find them horror Funko Pop online. They got so many! I don’t know how them kids can choose which one to buy. They spend hours, I see them, lookin’ at them pictures online, tryin’ to decide.
They tell me these pop figures, they’re not just for kids, neither. Grown-ups collect ’em, too. Can you believe it? Grown men and women, buyin’ these little toys. They say they’re valuable. Like I said, I don’t understand it, but to each their own, I suppose. I reckon these things are for everyone who are fans. But I think they are scary, not for me.
They got all kinds of things to buy, it ain’t just them figures. They sell them horror movies on blu-ray, whatever that is. And DVDs, those I know. And they got these things called “signed horror memorabilia.” Sounds fancy. Must be expensive. They say that they have a lot of options there online, but I don’t know. Maybe next time my granddaughter show me, I can look for them.
The world these days is crazy. Kids and their pop figures horror movies. It’s all beyond me. But as long as they’re happy, I guess that’s all that matters. Still, I wouldn’t want one of them scary things in my house. No sir, not me. I’ll stick to my flower garden, thank you very much. That’s much more my speed. These horror things are too scary. I don’t like them.
