Much like “Maleficent,” there’s a bit of magic goin’ on with Elsa’s powers. But don’t be fooled, this one ain’t just for the little ones. There’s plenty of heart and the kind of sisterly love that’ll make ya smile. Plus, that song, “Let It Go,” well, you can’t forget it once it’s in your head!
Brave (2012)
This one’s got a fiery young lass named Merida, who ain’t afraid to stand up for what she believes in. She’s got a lot of heart and a strong will, much like Maleficent. She’s also got a bit of magic, only hers is more about the bow and arrow than fairy wings. But ya see, both of ‘em deal with tough choices, family, and takin’ control of their own fate. If ya liked the strong women in “Maleficent,” I’d say give “Brave” a go. It’ll warm the cockles of yer heart.
Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)
This one’s a little darker, kinda like “Maleficent.” It’s got a wicked queen, magic mirrors, and of course, Snow White herself. The special effects and battle scenes are somethin’ else, and ya know what? There’s a lot of magic in this one too. Like Maleficent, the villain has a whole lotta layers to ‘em, and you might even find yourself rootin’ for ’em a bit. It’s definitely a fairytale with a twist, which is what makes it real interestin’.
Into the Woods (2014)
If you fancy a good ol’ fairytale mash-up, then this one’s for ya. It takes a whole heap of stories and mixes ’em together—Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, and more. It’s got some singing, some magic, and even some dark moments that make ya think a bit, kinda like Maleficent. This one’s a musical, so don’t be surprised if ya start tappin’ your feet along with the tunes. It’s a bit wild, but that’s the fun of it!
Cinderella (2015)
Now, ya can’t go wrong with a good ol’ Cinderella story, right? This one’s a live-action version, and it’s got a bit more depth than the cartoon. Much like “Maleficent,” it gives us a closer look at the villain, the evil stepmother. Ya see, sometimes there’s more to the story than just good and bad, and this film shows ya that. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (2019)
If you’re lookin’ for more of that same good ol’ Maleficent magic, well, there’s the sequel. It’s got more of the dark, twisted fairytale charm, and if ya liked the first one, then you’ll probably want to see what happens next. There’s a lotta drama, more magic, and a deeper look at the relationships between the characters. It’s a good follow-up to see how Maleficent’s story unfolds after all them big revelations in the first one.
The Huntsman: Winter’s War (2016)
Another one that’s got that dark fairytale feel. This one’s a prequel to “Snow White and the Huntsman,” and it dives deeper into the backstory of the evil queen. There’s magic, battles, and even a bit of romance in there. If you liked the darker themes of “Maleficent” and enjoy a good fantasy fight, this one might be right up yer alley.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
This one’s a bit more epic, but it’s got the magic, the adventure, and them big ol’ mythical creatures. If ya loved the magical elements of “Maleficent,” this one’s got plenty to offer with its wizardry, elven folk, and ancient prophecies. It’s a whole different kind of world, but still full of that same fantastical feel. If you’re in the mood for a long adventure with a lot of magic and creatures, “The Lord of the Rings” is a classic.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005)
If ya liked the fantasy and adventure parts of “Maleficent,” then ya should take a look at “Narnia.” It’s got magic, mythical creatures, and a good ol’ fight between good and evil.
