Okay, so, I’ve been trying to put together this list, right? A list of horror movies, but with a catch. They all gotta have the word “house” in the title. Sounds simple enough, but it got a little trickier than I thought it would.
First, I racked my brain trying to just remember every horror flick I’d ever seen. I scribbled down a bunch on a notepad, highlighting the ones I could recall that had “house” in the name. I got maybe five or six that way.
Digging Deeper
Then, I hit up the internet. I started with some basic searches, like “horror movies with house in title”. That turned up some obvious ones, like “House on Haunted Hill”, both the old and newer version, and also “House of Wax”. I added these to my list.
After that, I dug around on some of my favorite movie sites, the ones where people make lists of every kind of movie imaginable. I found a few more obscure ones that way, stuff I’d never even heard of before. Like “The House by the Cemetery” and “House”. I jotted those down too.
Getting Specific
I decided I needed to get more specific with my searches. So I started plugging in things like “haunted house movies”, “house horror movies 1980s”, stuff like that. This helped me uncover some real gems I’d totally forgotten about. “House of 1000 Corpses” was one I added from that. And “The Last House on the Left” – although technically “Left” not “house” is at the end, I included it anyway.
Community Help
Still, I felt like my list was a bit short. So, I reached out to some online horror communities. I posted on forums, asked around in chat rooms, and even hit up a few horror movie buffs I know in real life. This is where I struck gold. People came up with some great suggestions. Someone reminded me about “The Amityville Horror” which is based on a book called “The Amityville Horror: A True Story” and the book’s subtitle is “A terrifying true story about the Lutz family’s twenty-eight-day ordeal in a haunted house on Long Island”.
- House of the Devil
- House at the End of the Street
- The Sentinel (Because it is about “A fashion model moves into a house in Brooklyn inhabited by a mysterious priest on the top floor, and soon finds that she is surrounded by peculiar neighbors.”)
I ended up adding a bunch more to my list, thanks to their input.
Finally, after all that searching, brainstorming, and asking around, I had a pretty decent list of horror movies with “house” in the title. It wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be, but it was definitely a fun little project. It’s cool to see how many movies actually fit that specific category. It’s not just about haunted houses, either. There are all kinds of horror stories that just happen to take place in a house. I might even make it a point to watch a few of these again. Some of them I haven’t seen in ages!
