Okay, here is my blog post about making coconut mall movies:
So, I wanted to make some videos, you know, something fun and silly. I got this idea to do something with the Coconut Mall theme. You know that crazy song from Mario Kart? Yeah, that one. I thought it would be funny to mash it up with some movie clips.
First, I grabbed a bunch of movie scenes. I spent like, hours, just looking for the right clips. I wanted stuff that was kind of chaotic or had a lot of action. You know, something that would fit with the wild energy of the song. I ended up with scenes from action movies, comedies, and even some old cartoons. It was a real mixed bag.
Then, I had to get the Coconut Mall music. I just ripped it from a YouTube video. I’m pretty sure that’s not exactly legal, but hey, who’s gonna know? I made sure to get a good quality version, though. Didn’t want it to sound all crappy in my videos.
Next, I fired up my video editing software. I use this free one, it gets the job done. Nothing fancy, but I know my way around it. I imported all my movie clips and the music track. Then the real fun began.
Mixing and Matching
- I started by laying the music track down as the base.
- Then I started chopping up the movie clips and placing them over the music.
- I tried to match the scenes to the beat of the music. Like, when the music got really fast, I’d put in a clip of a car chase or something.
- And when it was slower, I’d use a more chill scene.
It was a lot of trial and error. Some clips just didn’t work. Either they were too long, or the mood was wrong, or they just didn’t look right with the music. So I had to keep swapping things out and moving them around. It was kind of like putting together a puzzle, but with video clips and music.

I also played around with some basic video effects. Like, I sped up some clips to make them look even more frantic. And I slowed down others to create a kind of dreamlike effect. Nothing too crazy, just enough to add a little bit of spice to the videos.
Honestly, it took me a few days to get everything just right. I kept going back and tweaking things. Changing the order of the clips, adjusting the timing, and that kind of stuff. I’m a bit of a perfectionist, I guess. Or maybe I just had too much time on my hands.
But finally, I finished them! I made a whole bunch of these Coconut Mall mashup videos. And you know what? They turned out pretty good! They’re funny, they’re weird, and they’re definitely unique. I uploaded them, not expecting much to come of it really. But I had fun making them and it felt good to flex my creative muscles for a bit, so I figured I’d share them with the world.
