The Black Women Film Network Summit is set to celebrate a decade of impact on March 22, 2025, at Atlanta’s Loudermilk Center, honoring Black women who are shaping the future of film and television. With this year’s theme, “Plot Twist: The Art of the Pivot,” the event will highlight how Black women continue to navigate industry shifts while making groundbreaking strides.
Among this year’s honorees, Grosse Pointe Garden Society star Aja Naomi King will receive the AccelerateHER Award, while Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and P-Valley creator Katori Hall will be honored with the StoryTellHER Award. Other powerhouse executives being honored include Angi Bones (president of original programming at Tyler Perry Studios), Denise Williams Watts (Apple Music) and Felicia Joseph (Disney Entertainment Television), each of whom have left an indelible mark on the entertainment landscape.
Now in its 28th year, the Black Women Film Network (BWFN) has been a driving force in uplifting Black women in entertainment through programming, scholarships, and networking opportunities. The BWFN Summit, sponsored by NBCUniversal and powered by CVENT is the organization’s tentpole event, bringing together rising talent and industry leaders for a day of impactful conversations. This year’s lineup includes fireside chats with actress Kat Graham, star of Tyler Perry’s Duplicity, and Found co-showrunner Sonay Hoffman, as well as panels on funding, marketing and PR strategies.
“These trailblazers embody the spirit of transformation, overcoming challenges and creating or fostering groundbreaking work along the way,” said BWFN Board Chair and filmmaker Chiquita Lockley. “For almost three decades, BWFN has had boots on the ground, cracking doors open for women in film and TV. As our industry evolves, we’ll continue to find ways to help our members navigate the pivot.”
