Well, let me tell ya ’bout this here… whatchamacallit… Boca Raton Jewish Film Festival, yeah, that’s it. Sounded fancy, so I figured I’d poke around a bit.
So, this thing, it happened in 2024. They showed a whole bunch of movies, all about Jewish stuff or them folks from Israel. Movies, movies, movies, everywhere you looked! They had ’em in these big fancy movie houses, like the Cinemark Palace 20, the Wick Theatre, and even over in Delray at the Movies of Delray. Don’t ask me where those places are, I just heard ’em sayin’ it.
- They had all sorts of films, some were like stories, ya know, made-up stuff, and some were real-life things, like documentaries.
- And wouldn’t ya know it, they gave out prizes! Best this, best that, just like a county fair, but with movies.
Now, they did this thing for a good while, started sometime in February and went on into March. Some folks said it even started as early as February 10th and went on till March 4th. Other folks said it started on February 25th and ended on March 17th. Anyways, it was a long to-do. I heard tell they even wanna do this movie stuff all year round now! Imagine that, movies all the time. Who’d a thunk it?
This ain’t just some small-time thing, no sirree. They call it the International Jewish Film Festival now. Big words, huh? Means folks from all over the world are watchin’ these movies, or makin’ ’em, or somethin’. They even had some big shot directors, Wendy Honig and Lesley Rich, running the show down there in Southeast Florida.
They showed trailers for the movies, so ya could get a peek before ya went in. And ya had to buy tickets, just like at the regular picture show. I heard tell they were givin’ out money too, like 40 bucks or somethin’. Don’t know what for, maybe for makin’ the best movie or somethin’. They were real proud of this here film festival, callin’ it “Boca Raton’s Original Jewish Film Festival.” Guess they been doin’ it for a while now.
So, that’s the gist of it. A whole lotta movies about Jewish folks and Israel, played in fancy theaters, for a good long time. Prizes were given, money was passed around, and everybody seemed to have a good time. Sounds like a hoot, don’t it? Though I still can’t figure out why they need so many movies, seems like one good one would be enough for me.

Anyway, if you’re into that kinda stuff, Jewish movies and all, sounds like this Boca Raton thing is the place to be. Just remember to save your dates, February and March, that’s when all the fuss is happening. And who knows, maybe next year they’ll have even more movies and give away even more money! It’s a whole new world, I tell ya, a whole new world.
They were showin’ all kind of films. They had what they call “features,” that’s like the long ones, and then them “documentaries,” which are supposed to be true stories. Kept hearin’ about best this and best that, so I guess some of them movies were real good. Heck, maybe they were all good, I wouldn’t know, never been much for sittin’ in a dark room watchin’ flickering pictures.
But let me tell you what really got me, they said this here festival started small and now, it’s “international”! That’s big stuff, like people from all over the world coming to Boca Raton just for these movies. They show ‘em all over town, even down in Delray. They got trailers so you see a little bit before you pay your money. And the dates? Well, that’s important. February to March, that’s when all the action is. Some say February 10th to March 4th, others say February 25th to March 17th. Either way, it’s a whole lotta movie watching.
So there you have it, the lowdown on that Boca Raton Jewish Film Festival. A whole lot of fuss over movies, but hey, if that’s what folks like, more power to ‘em. Me? I’d rather be out in the garden, but to each their own, I always say.
