Okay, so, like, I saw this thing online about boycotting Netflix in 2024, and I thought, “Why not?” I mean, I’ve been thinking about cutting back on my subscriptions anyway. So here’s what I did.

First, I logged into my Netflix account. It’s kind of a pain, you know, remembering all those passwords. But I got in. Then I went to the account settings. You gotta find the little “Membership & Billing” section. They make it kind of hard to cancel on purpose, I swear.

Next, I clicked on the “Cancel Membership” button. It’s a big, obvious button, but then they hit you with all these questions, like “Are you sure?” and “Why are you leaving?” I just picked some random reason. I think I said it was too expensive. They really try to make you stay.

  • Logged into my account.
  • Navigated to “Membership & Billing.”
  • Clicked “Cancel Membership.”
  • Answered their annoying questions.

Then they offered me a “lower-priced plan.” Come on, man, I’m trying to leave! I just kept clicking through, confirming that I really, really wanted to cancel. I stayed strong and didn’t take the bait.

Finally, I got the confirmation that my subscription was canceled. It won’t renew next month. Feels kind of good, honestly. One less thing to worry about. I have heard that a lot of people will do this in July 2024, maybe I will do it again at that time.

I also heard that a long time ago, people left Netflix in droves because of the company’s executive chair’s words. The streaming industry is indeed getting more and more competitive.

So yeah, that’s my story of boycotting Netflix. It wasn’t that hard. Maybe you should try it too. I heard some noise about people boycotting because of some political stuff, but honestly, I just wanted to save a few bucks. The reasons of others are none of my business. It’s a personal choice.

My Humble Suggestions

If you’re thinking about doing this, just go for it. It’s your money, you know? And there are so many other things to watch out there. Maybe I’ll check out some of those other streaming services. Or maybe I’ll just read a book. Who knows? The possibilities are endless when you’re not tied down to one service.

Anyway, that’s all I got. I shared this because I found that this was an interesting little experiment. Hope this was helpful or at least a little entertaining.
