Well, let me tell ya, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout that movie theater down in Bradley Beach, New Jersey. Used to be called the Beach Cinema, yeah? Right there on Main Street, number 110.

Now, I ain’t been to the pictures in ages, my old bones ain’t up for all that sittin’ still, but from what I gather, that Beach Cinema, well, it ain’t there no more. Shut down, they say. Closed up tighter than a drum. Don’t know why, exactly. Maybe folks stopped goin’, what with all them fancy TVs and whatnots they got now.

  • Folks used to go there to watch a movie, you know. Big screen, lots of seats.
  • Now you watch movies on that little box in your house.

I remember when goin’ to the movies was a big deal. You’d get all dressed up, maybe get some popcorn. Now, I hear tell they got somethin’ called a Fandango. Sounds like a dance, don’t it? But it ain’t no dance, no sirree. It’s somethin’ to do with findin’ out what movies are playin’ and where. And you can even get your tickets ahead of time, they say. Imagine that!

They say there’s talk of fixin’ up the old place. Callin’ it The Bradley now, I hear. Don’t know when it’ll be done, or if it’ll be any good, but it’s somethin’, I guess. Folks seem to like havin’ a place to go, somethin’ to do of an evenin’. ‘Specially when the weather turns cold.

Some folks are lookin’ for movies near Bradley Beach, zip code 07720, they say. They wanna know what’s playin’ and when. They wanna find a good theater, not too far to drive. And they wanna make sure the movie’s worth their time and money, you see. Can’t be wastin’ hard-earned cash on some silly flick.

Now, there’s another theater, over at the Gold Coast Mall. Fox Theaters, they call it. That one’s still open, as far as I know. Good for the young’uns, maybe. Lots of shops and stuff there, too. Makes it easy for folks to go see a movie and then get their shoppin’ done.

This Fandango thing, it helps folks find movies nearby. Showtimes and all. You can even see what other folks think of the movie, whether it’s good or not. They got these things called reviews and ratings. Now, I don’t put much stock in that kinda stuff myself. I like to make up my own mind. But some folks seem to like readin’ them things before they go. Saves ’em from wastin’ time on a bad movie, I suppose.

Seems like movies these days, they come and go so fast. One minute they’re all the rage, the next minute nobody’s talkin’ about ‘em no more. And the theaters, well, some stay, some go. It’s just the way of things, I reckon. Change is always happenin’, whether you like it or not. But one thing’s for sure, folks still like to be entertained. They still like to get out of the house and have a little fun. And movies, well, they’re one way to do it.

So, if you’re lookin’ for a movie theater in Bradley Beach, New Jersey, well, it seems like you might have to wait a bit for that Beach Cinema to open up again as The Bradley. Or you could head over to the Gold Coast Mall and see what’s playin’ at the Fox Theaters. And don’t forget to check that Fandango, if that’s your kinda thing. Me? I’ll stick to watchin’ the birds out my window. That’s entertainment enough for me.
