Okay, so I’ve been thinking about getting into the stock market, and Netflix seemed like a good place to start. Everyone’s always talking about it, right? So, I decided to buy some Netflix shares. Let me tell you, it was a bit of a process, but I figured it out.
First, I had to find a broker. You can’t just call up Netflix and say, “Hey, I want some shares!” Nope. You need a middleman. I spent a good chunk of time researching different online brokers. I read a bunch of reviews, looked at their fees, you know, the whole deal.
After comparing a few, I picked one that seemed easy enough to use and didn’t have crazy high fees. I had to create an account, which was kind of like signing up for any other website, but with way more personal information. Name, address, social security number, all that stuff. It felt a little scary, to be honest, handing over all that data.
Then came the fun part – funding the account! I had to link my bank account to the brokerage account. It took a day or two for everything to verify and transfer. Seeing my own money in the account made it feel real. I was ready to trade!
Next, I had to actually find Netflix’s stock. Each company has a little ticker symbol, like a nickname. Netflix’s is NFLX. I typed that into the broker’s search bar, and there it was! I saw the price going up and down, up and down. It was kind of nerve-wracking.
Now the big decision: how many shares to buy? I didn’t want to go all in, so I decided to start small. I did some quick math, figured out how much I was willing to risk, and then placed my order. You have to choose between a “market order” (buy at whatever the current price is) or a “limit order” (only buy if the price goes below a certain amount). I went with a market order because I just wanted to get it done.
I clicked “Buy”, and… boom! It was done. I officially owned a tiny, tiny piece of Netflix. I felt like a real investor, even though it was just a small amount.
After that, I checked the app every few hours. I will be honest, seeing the numbers change was a little addictive. It felt like a game, even though I know it’s real money. I am not saying it is good or not, just my feeling.
So, that’s how I bought shares of Netflix. It was a bit of a learning curve, but I’m glad I did it. Now, I’m keeping an eye on things and hoping for the best!
