Okay, so the other day I was scrolling through Netflix, as you do, and I stumbled upon this show called “Captain Grant’s Inn.” It looked kinda interesting, a reality show about some historic inn, so I figured, why not? Let’s check it out.
First thing I did was, you know, just watched the trailer. Gotta get a feel for it, right? It showed this old, creaky inn and the couple running it. Seemed like a mix of renovations, guest interactions, and maybe a little bit of drama. I’m a sucker for those renovation shows, so I was already leaning towards giving it a go.
Diving into the First Episode
So, I hit play on the first episode. Immediately, I’m noticing the atmosphere. It’s this mix of cozy and, like, slightly spooky. It’s an old inn, after all! They introduce the owners, and they seem pretty genuine, which is always a plus. You could tell they were really passionate about the place, trying to keep the history alive while also making it a nice place for people to stay.
The episode goes on, and they’re dealing with all sorts of stuff. Fixing up old rooms, which is always cool to see. You know, ripping out old carpet, finding weird stuff underneath…the usual. Then there’s the guest check-ins, which can be a mixed bag. Some guests are super chill, others are, well, a little more demanding. It’s fun to watch the owners handle the different personalities.
Getting Hooked (or Not)
I watched a couple more episodes, and honestly, I started getting into it. The renovation parts were my favorite, seeing the progress they made. There’s something satisfying about watching an old space get a new lease on life. And, yeah, there’s a bit of that reality show drama sprinkled in, but it wasn’t over the top. It felt pretty real, like you were just watching these people’s lives unfold.
One thing I really liked was how they showed the history of the inn. They’d have these little segments where they talked about the past owners, or some interesting event that happened there. It added another layer to the whole thing, made it more than just a renovation show.
By the time I finished the season, I felt like I’d actually learned something. Plus, I was kinda invested in the owners and their journey. Would I recommend it? Yeah, I think so. If you’re into history, renovations, or just want something a little different to watch, it’s worth checking out. It’s not gonna blow your mind, but it’s a solid, enjoyable watch.
