Alright, let me tell ya ‘bout this movie, “Curve.” I watched it the other day, and it sure was somethin’. Don’t expect no fancy talk from me, I’m just gonna tell it like it is, you know?
So, this gal, Mallory, played by Julianne Hough, pretty as a picture she is, she’s drivin’ along, mindin’ her own business. Then she picks up this fella, Teddy Sears plays him, and things go south real quick. He ain’t no good, that one. He messes things up bad and she ends up stuck, like a fly in honey, down in this ditch with her car flipped over.
Now, the whole movie, mostly, is just her tryin’ to get outta that car. It’s like that movie “127 Hours,” but with a car instead of rocks. She’s crawlin’ around, tryin’ to break a window, reach her phone, doin’ anything she can think of. It’s kinda like when my old mule, Bess, got stuck in the mud that one time. Took me and the boys half the day to pull her out, bless her heart.
This Mallory girl, she’s tough though. She ain’t givin’ up. She keeps at it, even when things look real bad. There’s this one part where she…well, let’s just say it ain’t for the faint of heart. Made me squirm a bit, it did. Reminded me of the time I had to… well, never mind that story. Some things ain’t fit for polite company.
- The good stuff: It keeps you guessin’. You wanna know if she’s gonna make it outta that car, you know? And Julianne Hough, she does a good job. You can see the fear in her eyes, and you feel for her.
- The not-so-good stuff: It gets a bit… well, repetitive. It’s mostly just her in the car, you know? And some of the things that happen, they don’t make a whole lotta sense if you think about ’em too hard. Like, why didn’t she just… oh, never mind. It’s just a movie, I guess.
I wouldn’t say it’s scary, not like those ghost movies they show on TV. But it does make you jump a few times. It’s more suspenseful, you know? Like when you’re waitin’ for the kettle to boil and you know it’s gonna whistle any minute now. That kind of feelin’. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, that’s for sure.
They coulda done a bit more with it, I think. Maybe show us more about why that fella was so mean, or what happened to him after. But it is what it is, I guess. It ain’t the best movie I ever seen, but it ain’t the worst neither.
It’s one of them movies you watch when there ain’t nothin’ else on. You know, a rainy afternoon kinda movie. It’ll pass the time, that’s for sure. Wouldn’t go tellin’ all my neighbors about it, but it was…fun, in a way. Like watchin’ a train wreck, you can’t look away, even though you know it ain’t gonna end pretty.
Overall, I’d say “Curve” is worth a watch if you like them thriller movies. Just don’t expect too much, and you might enjoy it. It’s a simple story, but it’s told pretty well. And that Julianne Hough, she’s a real looker, ain’t she? Reminds me of my niece, Sarah, back when she was younger. Always had that spark in her eyes, just like this Mallory girl.
So yeah, “Curve.” Not a masterpiece, but not a waste of time neither. Go on and watch it if you got nothin’ better to do. Just make sure you got plenty of popcorn, ‘cause you’ll be sittin’ there for a while.
