Okay, so, I got really into this new Netflix movie, Damsel, right? The scenery was just amazing, and I was like, “Where did they even film this thing?” So, I did a little digging.

First, I checked the usual spots—you know, movie websites and fan forums. Most people were talking about the special effects and stuff, but not much about the actual locations. A few guesses were thrown around, but nothing concrete.

Then, I stumbled upon this article that mentioned something called “Troubadour Meridian Water Studios” in London. Apparently, a big chunk of the movie was shot there on a soundstage. I’d never heard of it before, so I went down a bit of a rabbit hole.

Turns out, it’s this huge studio complex with a bunch of different stages. They can build all sorts of sets there, from medieval castles to faraway planets—pretty cool, huh? I’m guessing they did most of the interior shots there, or maybe scenes that needed a lot of special effects.

From what I’ve read, it seems like Damsel was not just filmed in one place. Some scenes were definitely shot on location to get that authentic, natural vibe. These are probably the parts of the movie where you see those breathtaking landscapes and epic outdoor adventures. But what about the outdoor scenes? They must have gone somewhere else for those, right? I couldn’t find anything definite, but I’ve got some theories. Maybe Portugal, with its rugged coastlines and ancient castles? Or maybe even New Zealand, since they’ve got those epic mountains and forests that would fit right in with the movie’s fantasy world.

    Here’s what I figured out:

  • Troubadour Meridian Water Studios: This seems to be the main place. They’ve got all the tech and space to create pretty much any setting you can imagine.
  • Real-world locations: I’m still not 100% sure where, but it has to be somewhere with stunning natural beauty.

I am thinking maybe I should reach out to the filmmakers directly and ask, or it would be interesting to see if anyone else has any leads on the outdoor locations. I will update you all if I find anything.

Anyway, that’s all I’ve got for now. It’s been a fun little investigation, though! If any of you have more info, definitely share it in the comments. Let’s crack this case together!
