Alright, let’s gab about them spooky movies, the horror ones, you know? The ones with all the jump scares and creepy crawlies. People keep askin’, what do they do to your insides, not your stomach, but that other part, the spirit, yeah, that’s it.
First off, lemme tell ya, these movies, they love playing with fear. Fear, fear, fear, that’s all they want from you. The Bible, it says somethin’ ’bout God not givin’ us a spirit of fear, somethin’ like that. So, you gotta wonder, where does all this fear come from when you’re watchin’ those flickers? Is it good for ya? I ain’t so sure. Fear ain’t a good feelin’, makes your heart pound like a drum solo, makes your hands sweat like a pig. Not a pretty picture, I tell ya.
- One thing’s for sure, these movies, they like to mess with your head. They show you all sorts of nasty stuff, demons and such. Makes you think, is that stuff real? Can them demons really do all that? Some folks say it’s just make-believe, but the Bible talks about evil spirits, so it makes a body wonder, don’t it?
- Then there’s the violence. Oh, the blood and guts! Choppin’ and stabbin’ and all sorts of mayhem. Is that good for the soul? I doubt it. Fillin’ your head with all that nasty stuff, it can’t be right. It’s like feedin’ a stray dog garbage, it ain’t gonna make him strong and healthy, is it?
Now, some folks say, “Oh, it’s just a movie, it ain’t real.” But I tell ya, even if it ain’t real, it can still mess with your head. It can make you scared of the dark, scared of being alone. It can make you have bad dreams. And that ain’t good, no sirree. The youngin’s shouldn’t be watchin’ this stuff, that’s what I say. Their little minds ain’t ready for all that darkness.
And another thing, some of these movies, they make light of the devil and his demons. They make ’em look cool or funny or even powerful. That ain’t right. The devil ain’t nothin’ to laugh at, he’s pure evil. The Bible says he’s like a roaring lion, lookin’ for someone to devour. So, why are we makin’ him look like a rockstar? Makes no sense to me.
But listen, I ain’t sayin’ nobody should watch these movies. That’s up to each person to decide. But I am sayin’ you gotta be careful. You gotta protect your spirit. Don’t let them movies fill you with fear and darkness. Fill your mind with good things, with things that are pure and holy. Read your Bible, pray, spend time with good people. That’s what I do, and it keeps me grounded.
Some folks, they even make movies about the good fight, the fight against evil, you know? Like them Christian movie makers. They show that there’s good and bad in the world, and that good always wins in the end. That’s the kinda stuff I like to watch, somethin’ that gives you hope, not somethin’ that makes you wanna hide under the bed.
So, to sum it up, watchin’ them horror movies, it ain’t always a good idea. It can mess with your spirit, make you fearful, and fill your head with nasty stuff. But if you’re gonna watch ’em, be careful. Don’t let ’em control you. Remember who you are, remember what’s important. And if you start feelin’ scared or uneasy, turn that darn thing off and go read your Bible, that what I always said. That’s what my ma always said.
And for goodness sake, keep them youngin’s away from it, they don’t need no nightmares. It is a sin to scare the little ones, pure innocent, they are. The world is bad enough without fillin’ their heads with demons and such.
I tell you what, it is better to fill your head with good clean livin’. Go outside, do some gardenin’, spend time with your family. Them scary movies will just give you the heebie jeebies. And who needs that? Not me, and not you neither.
