Alright, let’s talk about them “movies like the new mutants”, you know, the ones with them young folks and their powers. I ain’t no fancy movie critic or nothin’, but I watch my share of TV, that’s for sure. So, if you liked that New Mutants movie, maybe you’ll like these other ones too.
First off, they say there’s a whole bunch of ’em, like, sixty-six they say. Lordy, that’s a lot of movies! I ain’t seen all them, but I reckon some are better than others. You can find them on all them fancy places, like Netflix and that Amazon thing. My grandkids showed me how to use it, kinda complicated, but I get by.
Now, one movie they talk about is called “Blade”. Made way back in 1998, they say. That one’s about vampires, not exactly like New Mutants, but it’s got that dark feel to it, you know? And vampires, well, they got powers too, just different kind. Not like them kids in New Mutants who can do all sorts of crazy things.
Some folks didn’t much like New Mutants, said it was a mess. Well, I say, every movie’s got its good and bad. But them X-Men movies, they say some of them are good. Like X2 and that “First Class” one. I guess those are part of the same family as New Mutants, all them mutants and such. More of them superpowers and folks tryin’ to figure out their place in the world, kinda like young folks always doin’.
And speaking of figuring things out, seems like them movie folks have a whole order for watching these X-Men movies. Like you gotta watch the old ones first, then the new ones, then some Wolverine ones, then them Deadpool ones, and then finally New Mutants. Sounds like a lot of work to me! I just watch what’s on, when it’s on. But if you’re one of them folks who likes things in order, well, there you go.
- X-Men original trilogy
- Prequel series
- Wolverine movies
- First two Deadpool movies
- The New Mutants
- Deadpool & Wolverine
Now, they say Disney bought up all them X-Men folks, so who knows what they’ll do with ’em. Maybe more movies, maybe not. But they say this New Mutants movie, it’s got some of them LGBTQ+ characters in it. That’s what the young folks call it these days. Back in my day, we just called it… well, never mind. But it’s good, I reckon, to see all kinds of folks in movies.
And talkin’ about time, they say this New Mutants movie happens somewhere before another movie called “Logan.” I ain’t seen Logan, but I hear it’s good, kinda sad though. And then there’s that “Days of Future Past” one, talkin’ about the future and all. And another one comin’ with Deadpool and Wolverine, set in the future too, 2024 they say. Land sakes, that’s just around the corner! Makes you think, don’t it?
So, there you have it, a bunch of movies kinda like New Mutants. Some with superpowers, some with vampires, some with young folks figuring things out. If you liked that one, maybe you’ll like some of these others. Just go on that Netflix or whatever and search around. You’ll find somethin’ to watch, I reckon. And if you don’t like it, well, just change the channel. That’s what I always do.
And remember, movies are just stories, you know? Some are good, some are bad, some are just plain silly. But they give you somethin’ to think about, somethin’ to talk about. And that ain’t a bad thing, is it? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about movies made me hungry!
Anyways, if you lookin’ for somethin’ to watch after New Mutants, these are some good places to start. Just don’t get too caught up in all that timeline stuff. Just watch ’em and enjoy ’em, that’s what I say.
