Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Lion King movie, the new one, not the old one from way back when. I seen it with my own two eyes, and I got a thing or two to say, ya hear?

First off, this here movie, it looks real fancy. Like, super real. Them lions and all the critters, they ain’t cartoons no more. They look like they could jump right outta the screen and bite ya! It’s all this computer magic, they call it “CGI” or somethin’. Fancy stuff, I tell ya.

Now, the story, it’s the same as the old one, mostly. Little Simba, he’s a cute little fella, all playful and whatnot. His daddy, Mufasa, he’s the king, big and strong, voice like thunder, that James Earl Jones fella. He’s tryin’ to teach Simba how to be a good king, ya know, all that “Circle of Life” stuff.

  • But then there’s Scar, Mufasa’s brother, a real sneaky one, he is. Jealous as all get-out, wantin’ to be king himself. He causes all sorts of trouble, gets Mufasa killed, real sad it was. Made me wanna cry, it did.
  • And poor little Simba, he runs away, thinkin’ it’s all his fault. He meets up with this meerkat and a warthog, Timon and Pumbaa they’re called. Funny fellas, they are, always singin’ and eatin’ bugs. “Hakuna Matata,” they say, means “no worries.” Wish I could live like that sometimes, no worries, just eatin’ bugs… well, maybe not the bugs.

Simba grows up, big and strong like his daddy. Then this girl lion, Nala, she finds him. Tells him he needs to go back and be king, take care of his pride, the other lions, ya know. Simba don’t wanna at first, still feelin’ guilty ‘bout his daddy and all.

But then he sees his daddy in the sky, or somethin’ like that, and his daddy tells him to remember who he is. So Simba, he decides to go back, fight Scar, and take his rightful place as king. It’s a big fight, real scary, but Simba wins in the end. He roars real loud, just like his daddy, and all the bad lions run away. Good riddance, I say.

Now, let’s talk about them voices. They got some big names in this here movie, like that Beyonce girl and that Donald Glover fella. They sing real good, specially Beyonce. And Timon and Pumbaa, they’re even funnier than in the old movie, made me laugh till my belly hurt.

The music, it’s mostly the same as the old movie, but bigger, grander, you know? Makes you feel all sorts of things, happy, sad, scared, all mixed up together. It’s real powerful stuff, that music.

Overall, this Lion King movie, it’s a good one. Real pretty to look at, and the story, well, it’s a classic for a reason. It’s about growin’ up, takin’ responsibility, and facin’ your fears. Good lessons for them young’uns, and even for us old folks too. It teaches you ‘bout courage and doin’ what’s right, even when it’s hard. And that’s somethin’ we all need to remember, ain’t it?

It ain’t perfect, mind you. Some folks say it’s too much like the old movie, ain’t nothin’ new. And maybe they’re right, but I still enjoyed it. It’s like seein’ an old friend again, but all dressed up in fancy new clothes. And James Earl Jones’s voice? Still gives me goosebumps, it does. He’s the real deal, that fella.

So, if you’re lookin’ for a good movie to watch, somethin’ the whole family can enjoy, I say go see this Lion King. Just don’t expect it to be somethin’ totally different from the one you remember. It’s a remake, after all, but a darn good one at that. Just make sure you bring some tissues, ‘cause that Mufasa scene, it gets me every time, even though I know what’s comin’. It’s just so sad, you know? A father tryin’ to protect his son, that’s somethin’ special. It makes you think about your own family and the folks you love. And that’s what a good movie should do, make you feel somethin’.
