Alright, listen up, y’all! Let’s gab a bit about them new ski movies, you know, the ones with all the fancy snow ridin’ and whatnot. I ain’t no expert, but I do enjoy watchin’ folks zoom down them mountains. It’s kinda like watchin’ chickens scatter when you toss ’em some feed, but way faster and with more… snow.
So, I hear tell there’s this movie, “The Land of Giants.” A documentary, they say. Sounds big, huh? Like them pumpkins I tried growin’ last year, but bigger and, well, snowy. You can watch it on somethin’ called Philo, or Red Bull TV, or Prime Video, or even Apple TV. Heck, I ain’t even got a TV, got no idea how that works! But if you got one of them Roku thingamajigs, you’re all set, I guess. They say it’s available to stream now, so you can watch it whenever your heart desires. Probably not while you’re milkin’ the cows though, gotta keep your eyes on them teats, you know.
Now, there’s this fella, Warren Miller. He made a whole bunch of ski movies. Seems like he was the king of the hill when it came to makin’ these things. He done stopped directin’ ‘em back in ‘87 with “White Winter Heat,” but he kept his hands in the pot, producin’ and such, ‘til 2004. That’s a long time to be messin’ with snow movies, I tell ya! He must’ve really liked watchin’ people ski. Maybe he even skied himself, who knows? I reckon he saw a whole lot of snow in his day.
- Important Thing: They got these things called “film tour dates.” That means these movies, they go around showin’ them in different places. Kinda like a traveling circus, but with more skis and less clowns. They started announcing the dates in September 2024, so if you want to see one of these movies on the big screen, you better keep your ears perked up. Don’t want to miss the show, do ya?
- Another Important Thing: They got trailers too! You know, them little short movies that show you bits and pieces of the big movie? Well, these trailers for the new ski season, they got all sorts of fancy ridin’. Big mountains, parks, powder… all that jazz. They say it’s got “adrenaline-pumping action” and the “best skiers.” Sounds like a hoot! Gets you all fired up to see the real deal, I reckon. Like smelling fresh baked bread before you get to eat it.
