Alright, so you wanna know about them movies in New Bern, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, it ain’t rocket science. I ain’t been to the picture show myself in a donkey’s age, but I hear things, ya know? Folks talk.
First off, there’s this place, Bear Town Cinema 6. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But it’s just a movie place, like any other. They got a bunch of movies playing, all them newfangled ones. I heard tell of one called “Argylle” or somethin’ like that. And another one, “Lisa Frankenstein.” Sounds spooky, if you ask me. Kids these days, they like that kinda stuff.
Then there’s the Bruin Theater. Now, that one’s been around a while, I reckon. Don’t know what they’re showin’ now, but I bet it’s somethin’ good. They always got somethin’ for everyone, ya know? Not just all that bang-bang-boom stuff the young’uns like.
- Bear Town Cinema 6 – They got lots of movies, and you can even buy tickets online, whatever that means. Sounds complicated to me. They’re on Trent Road, number 2806, I think. And that phone number, 252-633-2772, if you wanna call ’em up. Though why you wouldn’t just go there, I don’t know.
- Bruin Theater – This one’s in New Bern too. Don’t rightly know the address, but folks in town can tell ya. It’s not hard to find. Heck, just ask around, somebody will point you in the right direction.
Now, if you wanna know what’s playin’ at them places, you gotta do some lookin’. My grandkid, she showed me this thing called “Google.” You just type in what you want, and it tells ya! Imagine that! You can type in “movies New Bern” and it’ll show you what’s playin’ where and when. It’s like magic, I tell ya.
Or, if you know the name of the movie, you can just search for that. Like, if you wanna see that “Argylle” movie, you just type that in. Or that “Lisa Frankenstein.” Easy peasy. You can even find out what them movies are about, so you don’t waste your money on somethin’ you ain’t gonna like. Though back in my day, you just went to the picture show and hoped for the best. We didn’t have all this fancy technology.
And if you’re really into movies, there’s this thing called IMDb. My grandkid showed me that too. It’s got all the movies ever made, or somethin’ like that. You can look up actors and see what movies they’ve been in. It’s a whole lotta information, but I don’t rightly know what to do with most of it. I just like watchin’ the pictures move.
Anyways, if you wanna go to the movies in New Bern, you got a couple of choices. Bear Town Cinema 6 and the Bruin Theater. Go on down there and see what they got. Maybe you’ll find somethin’ you like. And don’t forget to bring your popcorn money. That’s the best part, if you ask me. Not that I’ve been to a picture show in years, mind you. Too busy these days.
