You ask me ’bout horror movies art? Well, I seen a few things in my day, lemme tell ya. That picture show stuff, sometimes it’s somethin’ else. Some of it is real good, some of it makes my stomach feel real bad.
They got all them scary movies, you know? Like them ones with the ghosts and the monsters, and the things that jump out at ya. I seen one once, ’bout a fella, he was blind, but he made them statues. He took that young girl, wanted her to be in his art. That one was called “Blind Beast”. Boy, that was a messed up movie.
But this horror art, it ain’t always ’bout bein’ scared. Sometimes it’s just…different. Like them pictures of things that ain’t real, but they look real. I don’t always understand them, you know. It’s like they’re tryin’ to show ya somethin’ you ain’t supposed to see. I like the old timey scary movies, and them old posters are pretty good too.
My neighbor, she’s got a young’un, he draws them pictures. Dark things, he calls ’em. Says it’s dark art. I don’t know ’bout all that, but he draws them skeletons and them dead trees and whatnot. He says it’s ’bout death and the dark side. I tell him he needs to draw somethin’ nice, like flowers or a puppy, but he just rolls his eyes. He’s a weird little thing.
Then you got them scary stories, like the ones they tell ’round the campfire. Them stories ’bout the hook man and the lady in white. They make good movies, too. They made them books for kids, “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark”, they called ’em. Kids these days, they like that stuff. I think it make them feel good. My grandson likes them a lot.
I seen some pictures, they call ’em “creepy art“. They ain’t like them horror movies, though. They’re just…strange. Like somethin’ out of a dream, a bad dream. They got them twisty things and them faces that ain’t quite right. They are good in their own way, just, you know, they give me the feeling like something ain’t right.
This horror movie art, it can be anythin’, I reckon. Paintin’s, drawin’s, them statues, even them tattoos some folks get. I seen a fella once, he had a whole monster on his back. Looked like it was gonna jump right off him. I don’t know why anyone would want that on ’em, but to each their own, I suppose.
They say this art, it’s ’bout pushin’ boundaries and whatnot. Makin’ people think ’bout things they don’t wanna think ’bout. I guess that’s important, too. Like, when you see a movie, it’s good to talk about it with people, and think about it.

I remember one time, I was watching a scary movie on the TV. And you know what happened? It was like it became real. For real, it was like one of them horror movie things. I was just so scared. After that, I don’t think I watch scary movies much.
There was this other movie, I think it was called “The Exorcist”. Now that was a scary one. It was about this little girl, and she got possessed by the devil. It was so scary, I couldn’t sleep for a week. And the way they made her look, with the makeup and all, it was just terrifying. That’s some horror movie art right there, making something look so real and scary.
And then there’s “The Shining”. That movie had some creepy art in it. Remember those twin girls in the hallway? That was just so unsettling. And that scene with the blood coming out of the elevator, that was something else. It’s like, the whole hotel was a piece of horror art, you know? It made the movie so much scarier.
But you know, not all horror art is in movies. I’ve seen some paintings that were just as scary. There was this one painting, I think it was called “The Scream”. It’s just a picture of a person screaming, but it’s so disturbing. It’s like you can feel the person’s fear and despair. That’s some powerful art, even if it is scary.
So, this horror movies art, it’s a whole big thing. It’s more than just them jump scares and them monsters. It’s ’bout showin’ the dark side of things, the things that make us uncomfortable. And sometimes, it’s just plain weird. But, that’s why people like it, I think. That’s why people make it. To make people feel something, you know? I don’t always understand it, but I think it’s important in it’s own way.
I reckon that’s all I got to say ’bout that. Now, I’m gonna go make myself a cup of tea and watch somethin’ a little less scary. Maybe a nice show ’bout animals or somethin’.
