Okay, so, I was thinking, what should I watch after seeing “Thor: Love and Thunder”? I mean, Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder is just too good, right? I needed more of that epic, mythical, action-packed goodness in my life. So, I started searching for films that are kinda like “Thor”.
First, I thought about going back to the classics. I remembered this old movie, “Clash of the Titans,” the 2010 version, not the really old one. It’s got Sam Worthington playing Perseus, who’s like, this Greek demigod, kinda similar to Thor. He’s mad at his uncle Hades, who’s the big boss of the Underworld. The guy goes on this crazy mission, fights Medusa, battles a sea monster, you know, the usual hero stuff. It felt like a good start, pretty close to the “Thor” vibe with all the mythology and action.

Then, I jumped into something a bit more recent, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.” Yeah, I know, it’s a prequel to “The Lord of the Rings,” but hear me out. It’s got that epic adventure feel, a whole journey with a bunch of different characters, kinda like Thor’s team-ups. Bilbo’s adventure, even though he’s no god, has that grand, sweeping story that I was looking for. Plus, it’s got that fantasy element that I loved in “Thor.”

Next, I stumbled upon this oldie but goodie from 1983 called “Krull.” It’s about this space prince, Colwyn, who’s trying to save his planet’s future queen from this evil thing called the Beast. It’s a bit out there, with the whole intergalactic thing, but it’s got that heroic journey and the fight against a big bad, just like in “Thor.” It was a fun watch, a bit cheesy, but it definitely scratched that itch for an epic story.

I also gave “The Golden Compass” a shot. It’s based on a book, and it’s all about this girl, Lyra, who’s an orphan on this big adventure. It’s got a different feel, more like a young adult fantasy, but it still had that sense of a grand journey and fighting against the odds, which I liked. Not exactly like “Thor,” but it was a good watch.

Oh, and I watched this mockumentary called “What We Do in The Shadows.” It’s super funny, totally different from “Thor” in tone, but it’s got that supernatural element. It’s about vampires, but it’s done in this hilarious, everyday life kind of way. It was a nice break from all the serious action and adventure.

Last but not least, someone recommended “The Adventures of Baron Munchausen.” I haven’t gotten around to watching it yet, but from what I hear, it’s got that quirky, fantastical vibe that might be up my alley. I’ll have to check it out when I’ve got time.

Final Thoughts
So, yeah, that’s been my journey diving into movies similar to “Thor.” It’s been a mix of action, adventure, a bit of comedy, and a whole lot of fantasy. Each movie brought a little something different to the table, but they all helped fill that “Thor” void in their own way. If you’re into these kinds of movies, give them a try, you might just find your next favorite flick!
