Well, I’ll be! You wanna know about them movies playin’ in New Iberia, huh? Alright, let me tell ya what I know. Don’t expect no fancy talk, I just tell it like it is.
First off, you gotta figure out where them movies is showin’. We got that big ol’ place, the Grand Theatre. Always got the newest stuff, you know, the ones with all the explosions and superheroes. Then there’s that smaller one, The Bijou, I think they call it. They show some of them artsy-fartsy films, and sometimes the older ones, the ones I like better, to be honest.
Now, how you gonna find out what’s playin’? Well, you can go down there and look at the posters, that’s what I used to do. But these days, everyone’s got them fancy phones. My grandson showed me, you can just type in “movies New Iberia” and it’ll pop right up. Says what’s playin’ and when, even lets you buy tickets right there, can you believe it? Land sakes, things sure have changed.
- If you want the big blockbusters, the Grand Theatre’s your best bet. They got all them action movies, the comedies, and the cartoons for the young’uns. Just be prepared to pay a pretty penny, them tickets ain’t cheap!
- If you’re lookin’ for somethin’ a little different, try The Bijou. They might have an old classic playin’, or one of them foreign films. You know, the ones with the subtitles. Can’t say I understand ’em all, but sometimes they’re pretty good.
I heard tell they’re showin’ that new one with the fella who flies around in a cape. My grandson’s been pesterin’ me to take him, but I don’t know… all that noise and flashin’ lights gives me a headache. I’d rather see somethin’ with a good story, you know, like that one with the lady who sings all the time. Now that was a movie!
Anyways, you can also check the newspaper, if you still get one of those. They always print the movie times in there, somewhere near the back, I think. Or you can ask your neighbors, that’s what we used to do back in the day. Just go out on the porch and holler, “Hey, anyone know what’s playin’ at the movies?” Someone’s bound to know somethin’.
And don’t forget about them matinee shows! They’re cheaper, and they’re usually less crowded. That’s when I like to go, if I go at all. Can’t stand all them teenagers gigglin’ and talkin’ through the whole picture. No respect, I tell ya, no respect.
So, there you have it. That’s all I know about the movies in New Iberia. Go on down there and see for yourself, find somethin’ you like. And don’t forget to bring some popcorn, that’s the best part! Just don’t get the buttered kind, it makes a mess. Learned that the hard way, let me tell ya.
Remember to check online or the local listings for the most up-to-date showtimes. Things change fast these days, and you don’t wanna show up to the theater and find out the movie you wanted to see ain’t playin’ no more. That’d be a real bummer, wouldn’t it?
And one last thing, if you’re goin’ at night, be careful drivin’ home. Them roads can be dark, and you don’t want no accidents. Just take it slow and easy, and you’ll be alright.
Alright, I’ve talked your ear off long enough. Go on now, and enjoy the show! And don’t forget to tell me all about it when you get back. I love hearin’ about them movies, even if I don’t always understand ’em.
