Alright, let’s jaw about them movie theaters in New Iberia, Louisiana, y’know, the places where you go to watch them pictures move on the big screen. I ain’t no fancy movie critic or nothin’, just a regular person who likes to go see a good show every now and then.

First off, you got the Grand Theatre New Iberia. Folks seem to like it alright. It’s one of them big places, got lots of screens, so you can usually find somethin’ you wanna see. They play all the new movies, the ones everybody’s talkin’ ’bout. I went there last month to see that one movie, the one with all the explosions… can’t rightly remember the name now, but it was loud! They got them comfy chairs, the kind you can sink right into, and the popcorn ain’t half bad neither. It can get a bit crowded on weekends though, so be prepared for that.

Then there’s the Sliman Theatre. Now, that’s a different kind of place. It ain’t one of them megaplexes, it’s more… historical, I guess you’d say. It’s been around for a long time, and it’s got that old-timey feel to it. They don’t always show the newest movies, sometimes they play the older ones, the classics. And they have other things there too, like plays and concerts. It’s a nice place to go if you want somethin’ a little different.

Some folks also talk about the Community Center. I ain’t sure if they show movies all the time, but I heard they do sometimes. Probably more for the kids, you know, family-friendly stuff. And it’s probably cheaper than them big theaters, which is always a good thing in my book.

Now, when it comes to pickin’ a movie, that’s a whole ‘nother story. There’s always so many to choose from! You got your action movies, your comedies, your scary ones… I like a good laugh myself, so I usually go for the comedies. But sometimes I’m in the mood for somethin’ a little more exciting, like an adventure movie, or maybe even one of them superhero ones. My grandkids love them superhero movies.

  • Action Movies: Lots of shootin’ and fightin’ and things blowin’ up. Good for when you wanna feel somethin’, even if it’s just loud noises.
  • Comedy Movies: These make you laugh, which is always a good thing. Sometimes they’re silly, sometimes they’re smart, but they always try to make you smile.
  • Scary Movies: I ain’t a fan of these myself. Too much jumpin’ and screamin’ for my taste. But some folks like ’em, I guess. To each their own, I always say.

And where to sit in the theater? Well, that’s important too. You don’t wanna be too close, or you’ll get a crick in your neck. And you don’t wanna be too far back, or you won’t be able to see nothin’. I always try to get a seat somewhere in the middle, not too high up, not too low down. Just right, like Goldilocks and her porridge, you know? I heard some folks say the best seat is right smack in the middle, but I don’t know about that, too many heads in the way. I like it a little bit back from the middle, maybe two-thirds of the way or so. That way you can see everything without havin’ to turn your head all the time.

Findin’ out what movies are playin’ and when ain’t too hard these days. You can look it up online, on them websites like… well, I don’t remember the names, but my grandkids showed me. Or you can just look in the newspaper, they still print them movie times, don’t they? And then there’s that Fandango thing, whatever that is. Seems like everybody’s usin’ that these days to buy their tickets and see what movies are playing near New Iberia, zip code 70563. And you can find showtimes on that IMDb website too, they got all the movie info you could ever want. Seems like everythin’s on the computer these days.

So, if you’re lookin’ for a movie theater in New Iberia, LA, you got a few choices. Whether you want the big fancy place with all the new movies, or the old-timey theater with the classics, or even just a community center showin’ somethin’ for the kids, you can find it here. Just pick a movie, grab some popcorn, and enjoy the show. And don’t forget to turn off your cell phone!
