You know, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout them scary movies the other day. Got me thinkin’, there’s a whole lotta things ’bout them horror movies that folks don’t know. I ain’t no expert, but I’ve seen a few in my time, and I picked up a thing or two. I thought I would share some fun facts about horror movies with you, and I bet you won’t believe some of them.

First off, them horror movies, they ain’t always just made up, you know? Sometimes they take bits and pieces from real life. Like that one, what’s it called? Oh yeah, “The Exorcist”. That was a scary one. They say it was based on a real story. Imagine that, a real story! A boy, all possessed and whatnot. Gives me the shivers just thinkin’ about it. Makes you wonder what else is out there, huh?

And the sounds! My goodness, the sounds they make in them movies. You wouldn’t believe how they do it. Sometimes they use regular things to make them scary noises. Like, for footsteps, they might be crunchin’ on some old bones or walkin’ on some leaves. They’re tricky, them horror movie makers. They are really good at their jobs, too. I heard they use stuff like celery and walnuts to make sounds like bones breakin’. Can you believe that? Celery! Who knew?

Then there’s the blood. Gallons and gallons of it, ain’t there? Well, most times it ain’t real blood, thank goodness. They use all sorts of things to make it look real. Heard they used chocolate syrup in one of them old black and white horror movies. Imagine that, chocolate! Nowadays, they got this fake blood that looks so real, it’s hard to tell the difference. They are so realistic now, and that makes them even more scary. But it’s all make-believe, just like a play.

And you know how some folks just can’t stand to watch them scary parts? They cover their eyes or look away? Well, the people makin’ them movies, they know that. They use that to their advantage. They build up the scare, make you wait for it, then BAM! They get you good. It’s all part of the fun, I reckon. It’s a good way to get a good scare, but not get hurt. It’s also fun to laugh after, isn’t it?

  • Some of these horror movies have sequels, prequels, all sorts of things. Just when you think it’s over, they come out with another one!
  • Did you know some famous people started out in horror movies? Yep, they were young and just startin’ out, and they took what they could get, I guess.
  • And those masks they wear, like in “Halloween” or “Friday the 13th,” those are creepy, I tell ya. They say that one of those masks was just a painted Captain Kirk mask from that show “Star Trek.” Just goes to show that scary things can be simple, too.

Sometimes, they have to do the same scene over and over again to get it just right. They had to do one scene in “The Shining” over a hundred times! That’s a lot of work for just a little piece of the movie. But it sure did turn out good, didn’t it? It’s one of the best horror movies out there, even today.

Sometimes them horror movies can be funny, too. Not all of them, mind you, but some of them have these little jokes in them. You gotta pay attention, or you’ll miss them. They are good for a little laugh, even if it’s a scary movie. It can help break up the scary parts, too.

And did you know that some people make a whole lot of money from these horror movies? It’s true! They sell tickets, and merchandise, and all sorts of things. People love being scared, I guess. It’s big business, them scary movies. I bet the people who make them are laughing all the way to the bank! They found a way to make money off of scaring people, and it works, too.

You know, them horror movies, they’re kind of like a rollercoaster. You get all scared and excited, your heart’s beatin’ fast, but you know you’re safe. It’s all just for fun. And when it’s over, you can say you did it. You faced your fears, even if it was just a movie. You can laugh and say, “I saw that!” and feel brave.

Well, I reckon I’ve rambled on long enough. Just remember, them horror movies, they’re more than just jump scares and spooky music. There’s a lot that goes into makin’ them, and a lot of reasons why people like them. So next time you watch one, maybe you’ll think about all this stuff. And maybe you won’t be so scared after all.
