Alright, so I saw this Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance movie the other day. Don’t rightly know why, maybe it was on sale or somethin’, but I watched it.
First off, that Nic Cage, he’s back as this Ghost Rider fella. You know, the one with the fiery skull head? Yeah, him. He’s ridin’ around on his motorcycle, all leathered up, and fightin’ the devil. Sounds kinda wild, right? Well, it kinda was, but not always in a good way.
This movie, they say it’s supposed to be darker than that first one. Based on some comic book, Road to Damnation, they called it. Don’t know nothin’ ’bout no comic books, but it seemed like they were tryin’ to make it all serious and gritty.
They got these two fellas directin’ it, and they seemed to know what they were doin’, at least with all the fire and explosions. Plenty of things blowin’ up, and that Ghost Rider’s head was always on fire. Looked kinda cool, I guess, but sometimes it just looked… well, fake. You know, like those computer graphics they use these days. Not like real fire, not like when you burn trash in the barrel out back.
- Lots of fire, that’s for sure.
- Nic Cage yellin’ a lot.
- Motorcycle ridin’, fast and furious like.
- The devil, he’s in it too, lookin’ all mean.
But the story, well, that was a whole ‘nother mess. Didn’t make a whole lotta sense to me. Somethin’ about protectin’ a young boy from the devil, and Ghost Rider makin’ deals and breakin’ deals. It was all jumbled up, like a ball of yarn the cat got ahold of. Hard to follow, you know? I kept thinkin’, “What in tarnation is goin’ on here?”
And that Nic Cage, he was actin’ all crazy, like he always does. Screamin’ and makin’ funny faces. Sometimes it was funny, sometimes it was just… weird. Like he was tryin’ too hard or somethin’. I reckon some folks like that kinda thing, but it just made me scratch my head.
They say this movie wasn’t for everyone, and I can see why. It’s like one of them dishes where they throw everything in the pot and hope it tastes good. Some folks might like the mix, but it left me feelin’ kinda queasy. It wasn’t the worst movie I ever saw, but it sure wasn’t the best neither.
One fella, he trained for three months with a sword for this movie, and even shaved his head. That’s dedication, I tell ya. But even that couldn’t save the movie, not really. It just felt… cheap, like somethin’ you’d find in the bargain bin at the dollar store.
Some folks said it was supposed to be trashy fun, but it ended up just bein’ plain trash. Harsh words, maybe, but that’s how I felt. It’s like they had all these fancy ingredients, but they didn’t know how to put ‘em together right.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a movie that makes sense and has good acting and a story that don’t leave you scratchin’ your head, well, this ain’t it. But if you like fire and explosions and Nic Cage actin’ all wild, then maybe you’ll get a kick out of it. Me? I reckon I’ll stick to watchin’ the birds and the squirrels out back. They make more sense than this movie did.
Overall, it’s a mixed bag, this Ghost Rider thing. Some good, some bad, and a whole lot of “what the heck was that?” If I had to give it a grade, I’d say it’s a C-minus, maybe a D-plus on a good day. Take that for what it’s worth, which ain’t much, I reckon.
