So, I’ve been wanting to put together a list of really tough horror movie trivia questions. You know, the kind that even hardcore fans might struggle with. I spent a good chunk of my day diving deep into this, and let me tell you, it’s been quite the ride.

First off, I started by brainstorming some of my favorite horror flicks. We’re talking classics like “Alien” and “Friday the 13th,” but also some more obscure titles that I personally love. I figured a good mix would make for a well-rounded trivia list. Plus, I needed some inspiration to dig deeper for the hard questions.

Then, I hit the internet, trying to find existing trivia questions to get a feel for what’s already out there. Honestly, a lot of them were pretty basic. “What’s the name of the killer in ‘Halloween’?” Please, everyone knows that’s Michael Myers. I needed to find questions that would really make people think and second-guess themselves.

  • I dug through fan forums, read some pretty intense discussions about minor plot points.
  • Scoured old interviews with directors and actors, hoping for some behind-the-scenes tidbits I could use.

One question I came up with, for instance, is about the live-action Scooby-Doo movies. It’s kinda horror-adjacent, right? I won’t spoil it, but it’s about a specific detail that most people wouldn’t remember. And there is another one, “What was the profession of one of the side characters in the film ‘Friday the 13th’?” It sounds easy, but think again. Do you remember? He was burned in a fryer of hot grease. He was a cook at Camp Manabe. Not many people would remember that!

I also tried to get creative with the types of questions. Instead of just asking for names or dates, I thought about questions that require you to really know the story. Like, remembering a specific scene or a throwaway line that actually has significance. Crafting these was tricky. It took way more time than I expected. You really have to immerse yourself in the movies to find those little details.

My Goals

What am I gonna do with this list? Well, I’m thinking of using it for a Halloween party I’m hosting. Maybe even make it a small competition, see who’s the ultimate horror buff. It’s all in good fun, but I do enjoy stumping people sometimes. Also, I thought about posting it on a forum or two, see what kind of reactions I get. Maybe I’ll even get some new questions out of it!

This whole process has been exhausting but also super rewarding. It’s made me appreciate these movies on a whole new level. I can’t wait to see how my friends do with these questions. Hopefully, they’ll find them as challenging and fun as I did when making them.
