Okay, so I wanted to make movie night with my friends a bit more interesting, and I had this idea to make some horror movie bingo cards. You know, like those bingo games but with typical horror movie clichés instead of numbers. I thought it would be a fun way to keep everyone engaged during the movie, especially since we all love (or love to hate) those predictable horror moments.
First, I did some searching online to see what was already out there. I found a bunch of websites that let you create bingo cards, even some specifically for scary movies. Most of them were pretty straightforward—you could customize the words or phrases, pick a theme, and then print them out or use them virtually. Pretty cool, right?
Brainstorming the Clichés
The real fun began when I started thinking about what clichés to include. I wanted a good mix of classic and funny ones. Here’s what I came up with:
- “Someone trips and just lays there” – Because who doesn’t in a horror movie?
- “Creepy children singing” – Always a good one to send shivers down your spine.
- “Jump scare with loud noise” – Gets me every time!
- “Ignoring obvious warning signs” – Like, seriously, don’t go in there!
- “The car won’t start” – Of course it won’t.
- “Hiding under the bed” – Is that really the best hiding spot?
- “Death by power tool” – Classic and gruesome.
- “The cop dies” – Sorry, officer.
- “Calls out friend’s name 2-3 times” – Just run already!
- “Prank phone call” – Is it really a prank?
- “No cell service” – Surprise, surprise!
- “Let’s split up” – The worst idea ever.
- “The killer is behind you” – Turn around, dummy!
- “Spooky mirror reflection” – Gets me every time.
- “Investigating a strange noise” – Just stay put!
- “The final girl” – Who will it be this time?
- “Fake-out scare” – When it’s just a cat or something.
- “Running up the stairs instead of out the door” – Why do they always do that?
- “The killer isn’t really dead” – You should have double-tapped!
I ended up with a list of almost 90 different clichés, which I thought was pretty good. Some websites even had pre-made lists, but I wanted mine to be personalized to what my friends and I always joke about during movies.
Making the Cards
After finalizing my list, I used one of the online tools to create the bingo cards. I chose a spooky-looking theme with dark colors and creepy fonts. It took a bit of time to input all the phrases, but the tool automatically generated the cards, mixing up the clichés so each card was different. I made 20 cards in total, each with 36 different items.
The Result
The cards turned out great! They looked professional, and I printed them out on some thick paper to make them feel more legit. I also saved a digital version for anyone who wanted to play virtually. I’m really excited to try them out on our next movie night. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun, and maybe we’ll even create some new inside jokes based on how the game goes.
If you’re looking for a way to spice up your movie nights, I highly recommend making these bingo cards. It’s a simple but effective way to add some extra fun and keep everyone engaged, no matter how predictable the movie gets. Plus, it’s a great way to celebrate all those silly horror tropes we can’t help but love.
