So, I’ve been wanting to watch Netflix in my car for a while now. You know, during those long drives or when I’m just chilling in the parking lot waiting for someone. I did some digging around and found out it’s actually possible to get Netflix on CarPlay, but it’s not as straightforward as you might think.
First things first, I made sure my iPhone and my car’s infotainment system were both up-to-date. Apparently, you need the latest versions of everything for this to work properly. I also checked if my car was even compatible with CarPlay, which luckily it was.
Then, I came across this thing called a “CarPlay adapter.” It’s basically a little device that plugs into your car and allows you to do more stuff on your screen. I read that you could use it to mirror your phone’s screen to the car’s display. So, I went ahead and got myself one of those adapters.
I plugged the adapter into my car and then connected my phone to it. There was an app I had to launch on my phone to get the mirroring going. At first, I tried playing some videos. They worked fine, but then I realized that mirroring Netflix wasn’t gonna work. Turns out, Netflix doesn’t allow mirroring because of some HDCP content thingy. Bummer, right?
But, I didn’t give up just yet. I found out that these CarPlay adapters, or “CarPlay Boxes” as some people call them, can actually do more than just mirroring. They can let you play videos directly on your car’s screen.
- Updated my iPhone to the latest iOS version.
- Checked my car’s compatibility with CarPlay.
- Bought a CarPlay adapter.
- Plugged in the adapter and connected my phone.
- Tried mirroring Netflix, but it didn’t work.
- Used the CarPlay Box’s video playback feature instead.
So I spent a good amount of time fiddling around with the settings and the different apps on the CarPlay Box. It wasn’t super easy, and the interface was kinda clunky, but eventually, I figured it out. I managed to download some video apps onto the CarPlay Box and logged into my Netflix account through one of them.
And guess what? It worked! I could finally watch Netflix on my car’s screen. The playback controls were pretty simple to use, just like using any other app on CarPlay. I could play, pause, skip forward, and all that jazz.
Now, I gotta say, it’s super important to be responsible with this. Watching videos while driving is a big no-no. I only use this when I’m parked and have some time to kill. Safety first, people!
Anyways, that’s how I got Netflix working on my car’s screen. It was a bit of a process, but totally worth it for me. Now I can enjoy my favorite shows and movies during those long waits or when I just need a break. Pretty neat, huh?
