The Immortal Universe is back with the haunts and horror in Season 2 of Mayfair Witches. Based on the late Anne Rice’s trilogy of novels, “Lives of the Mayfair Witches”, the on-screen adaptation follows young neurosurgeon Rowan Fielding (Alexandra Daddario) who discovers that she’s part of a long-standing legacy of witches. As she comes to terms with her supernatural abilities, not only must she learn of her family’s mysterious past, but also protect herself from the deadly forces that threaten her clan.
A tale of female empowerment, Rowan walks on a tightrope between life and death, where every choice puts her in a near-impossible moral dilemma. Things get even more complicated in Season 2. With a demon as her offspring, Rowan must quickly understand what he has become before it takes on innocent lives. Watch The Trailer for ‘Mayfair Witches’ Season 2
The first trailer for Mayfair Witches Season 2 was released on October 31 – incredibly fitting the Halloween mood. The clips show Rowan (Daddario) walking out of the fog, signaling a new chapter in her life. Once clueless and intrigued by her family’s dark legacy, Rowan has now come to terms with her true origins, embracing her witchiness from within. However, nothing could prepare Rowan for what’s next. Lasher is reborn as a child, and he’s not the sweet, innocent kind one would expect of a young boy. The clip immediately switches to a grown-up version of Lasher (Jack Huston), who’s revealed to be murdering Mayfair women, much to Rowan’s displeasure.
AMC released a teaser for Mayfair Witches Season 2 on December 5. With Lasher now part of the family, one might think that everything’s safe and sound. But when word spreads that Lasher’s been on the hunt for innocent women, Rowan realizes that Lasher might be more of a demon than a human.

New addition Feldman is set to take on a series regular role, starring as Sam “Lark” Larkin, a geneticist and Rowan’s former boyfriend. Unlike Rowan’s family back home, Lark seems to be a regular human being from the “normal” side of life. Feldman also shared more about what his new role entails:
“He’s an ex-boyfriend, and he runs a genetics company. He’s from her world scientifically, but he’s from a different era in her life — when she was a normal person. For a good portion of the season, she’s just strange to him. She’s always in the middle of something really weird when he shows up for a date.”
Also joining Season 2 is Jirrels, starring as Moira Mayfair, a cousin of Rowan’s who can read minds. Levine stars as Julien Mayfair, father of Cortland whose haunting presence promises nothing but chaos and carnage. Birch is set to make a guest appearance as Gifford Mayfair, a tarot card reader with a sardonic sense of humor.
What Is ‘Mayfair Witches’ Season 2 About?
Check out the official synopsis for Mayfair Witches Season 2:
“Based on Anne Rice’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches, season two of Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches continues the journey of Rowan Mayfair (Daddario) after she has unwittingly given birth to the demon Lasher (Huston). She is determined to understand what he has become – human or monster? – and to use him to fulfill her purpose as a healer, but when tragedy strikes, she must put aside her own desires and fight to protect her family.”
At last year’s New York Comic-Con, Collider’s Perri Nemiroff had a chat with showrunner and EP Esta Spalding and cast members Hamlin, Chirisa, and Jirrels. Describing Season 2 as “dark” and “weird”, with Rowan expected to lean more into her identity as a full-blow witch, the cast members also teased what to expect in the new episodes.
“To tease what’s to come this season, can each of you say the single most off-the-wall thing you got to do while making Season 2 that you’re excited for viewers to get to see when it comes out?
HAMLIN: Cannibalism?
JIRRELS: I got to wear a really interesting costume piece. I’ll just say that.
SPALDING: One of the things that happens in the season is that five episodes in, we go to Scotland.
JIRRELS: Oh, well, if I can say that, then I wear a milkmaid dress. Whatever!
SPALDING: Yeah, Moira dresses as a milkmaid. Yeah, we go to Scotland, so a lot happens in the Highlands that is just so deeply the fabric of the novel and so very, very strange and wonderful, and terrifying.”
What Happened in the ‘Mayfair Witches’ Season 1 Finale?
The Season 1 finale of Mayfair Witches reveals shocking revelations about Rowan’s (Daddario) true origins. Rowan embraces her growing bond with the demon Lasher (Huston), who is now reborn as her child. While Lasher orchestrated the pregnancy, in an interview with Variety, co-creator Esta Spalding confirms that Ciprien Grieve (Chirisa) is the biological father. With their strained relationship growing even more complicated, Rowan and Ciprien’s uncertain future is left for Season 2 play out.
More family secrets are unleashed when Rowan discovers her father is Cortland Mayfair (Hamlin), whose sinister actions at a masquerade ball led to her conception. Cortland’s questionable methods culminate in his immortality deal with Lasher, but Rowan turns the tables, petrifying him with her newfound power. Meanwhile, Rowan has visions of her Mayfair ancestors, including the original with Suzanne, opening Rowan’s eyes to her family’s dark legacy. Stuck at a crossroads, Rowan’s choices are limited. She could either stand by Lasher and join him in his pursuit of power or fully resist him and stand on her own.
How is ‘Mayfair Witches’ Connected to ‘Interview with a Vampire’?
Produced under the same Immortal Universe umbrella, Mayfair Witches shares the same world as Interview with the Vampire, specifically through Rice’s novels “Lives of the Mayfair Witches” and “The Vampire Chronicles.” Both airing on AMC, Interview with the Vampire briefly teased its connection with Mayfair Witches in its very first episode. At one point, Louis’s (Jacob Anderson) troubled brother Paul (Steven G. Norfleet) jokes about “plenty of brooms down the street at the Mayfair sisters’ home,”, which references the Mayfair family and signals the witches’ existence within the same universe.
In Rice’s books, the crossover between witches and vampires is in Merrick, the seventh book of “The Vampire Chronicles”. The storyline features a Mayfair witch coming to the aid of Louis and Lestat in a quest to resurrect Claudia – which also happens to be the plot for Season 2 of Interview with the Vampire. Additionally, Rice’s novel “Blackwood Farm” connects the two families further, pulling vampire Tarquin Blackwood and Mona Mayfair together. With Season 3 of Interview with the Vampire slated to air in 2025, and The Talamasca spin-off currently in the works, there may be a possibility that the Immortal Universe plans to explore these shared ties even further (fingers crossed for crossover episodes,)
Who Is Making ‘Mayfair Witches”?
Mayfair Witches is executive produced by Mark Johnson, showrunner Spalding, Tom Williams, Michelle Ashford, Christopher Rice, and the late Anne Rice. The series is produced by AMC Studios. Before Mayfair Witches, AMC Studios released Interview with the Vampire in 2022, setting the spark for the Immortal Universe.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, the late Rice has written more than 30 novels, many of which are inspired by the landscape of her hometown. Most notable examples include “Interview with the Vampire”, with The French Quarter as the main backdrop of Rice’s first novel. The fictional home in “Mayfair Witches” is also based on the anti-bellum house in the Garden District. Rice is also remembered for her other equally chilling works, such as “The Witching Hour”, “Servant of the Bones”, “Merrick”, “Blackwood Farm”, “Blood Canticle”, “Violin”, and “Cro to Heaven.”
