Well, folks, you know that saying, “you are what you eat,” right? It’s been around forever, and to be honest, it’s got a lot of truth to it. But let me tell you, this new documentary on Netflix, “You Are What You Eat,” really took that saying and ran with it, like a chicken with its head cut off. Some folks say it’s a good eye-opener, but I watched it, and I tell ya, it was like a big ol’ pile of propaganda.

Now, I ain’t no expert, but I know when something don’t sit right in my stomach. They got this whole thing about how eating meat is bad for the planet and how we should all be turning into vegans. They’re quick to throw numbers and charts at ya, but it don’t seem like they’ve got any real balance in there. It’s all one-sided, just like how a preacher tells ya only the good things and leaves out the rest of the story. They talk about how eating less meat is better for the environment, but they sure don’t talk enough about how people got to make a livin’ somehow. It feels like a big ad for plant-based foods, and not even a good one.

What’s the deal with all this bias?

First off, they say stuff like “meat’s bad for the climate” and they got all these folks telling you why you should avoid it. Well, I’m here to tell ya, that’s only part of the story. They never talk much about how farming, even plant-based farming, uses a whole lotta resources too. It’s like they just pick and choose what they want to show ya. If they really wanted to help folks understand the full picture, they’d tell us both sides, not just the ones that make you scared to put a piece of chicken in your mouth. It’s a shame, really.

Is it all lies, though?

Now, don’t get me wrong, I ain’t saying everything in that show is a lie. They do make some points about how what we eat affects our bodies. Sure, what we eat does help build our muscles, bones, and all that. I mean, you eat junk food, you’re gonna feel like junk, right? But what they don’t tell ya is that one size don’t fit all. Some folks can eat a lot of meat and feel fine, while others can’t. They don’t talk about how different folks have different needs, depending on where they live and what they do for work.

And speaking of work, they really go after the folks who raise animals for food. They make it sound like we’re all cruel for eating meat, but they don’t give a fair shake to the farmers who work hard to raise these animals. Some of them treat their livestock like family, and you know that ain’t the case with every farm out there. They don’t mention how tough it is to raise these animals, and how a lot of people depend on these jobs. There’s no talk about balance—just fearmongering, if you ask me.

The Big Plant-Based Push

Now, I ain’t gonna lie, this whole plant-based thing sounds mighty appealing to some folks. There’s all these fancy vegan products popping up on shelves everywhere. They got plant burgers and milk made from nuts and all sorts of things. But let me tell you, it ain’t always the answer either. Just cause something’s labeled “vegan” doesn’t mean it’s healthy. They throw all these additives and preservatives in there, and it ain’t always good for ya. Just like anything else, you gotta watch what you put in your body.

And don’t even get me started on how this documentary was funded. I mean, when I heard it was backed by the Vogt Foundation, I had to scratch my head. That group’s all about promoting plant-based foods and protecting animals. Well, I reckon it makes sense that they’d be the ones backing this show. It’s all a bit too convenient, don’t ya think? A little bias in who’s paying the bills can go a long way in shaping the story you’re telling.

What’s the truth, then?

Well, the truth is, it ain’t that simple. It’s like anything in life—you gotta find balance. Some folks can thrive on a plant-based diet, and others might need a little meat in their life. It’s about what works for you and what makes you feel good. Don’t let anybody scare ya into thinking there’s only one way to live. You’re the one who’s gotta live in that body, not them.

So, yeah, this Netflix doc is full of a lot of half-truths and biased opinions. It’s like a one-sided argument where they only show ya the parts that fit their agenda. If you’re gonna watch it, just remember to take it with a grain of salt. Ain’t no need to give up your bacon just yet. But hey, if you like your veggies, more power to ya. Just don’t let somebody else tell ya how to eat your dinner.

In Conclusion

We all know we should be eatin’ better, but don’t let anyone tell ya there’s only one right way to do it. Whether you’re eatin’ meat, veggies, or a little bit of both, the most important thing is that you feel good about what you’re putting in your body. And don’t let a documentary on Netflix tell ya otherwise, ’cause a lot of what’s on there ain’t gospel. It’s just someone’s opinion, and they got their own reasons for pushin’ it.
