The Survivor world was rocked when it was announced that season 50 would be a season full of returning castaways. Fans of the reality competition series started making their wish list for who should return to get another shot at the $1 million prize. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if that prize money would increase. Survivor: Winners at War increased the prize to $2 million.
Jeff Probst previously said castaways from all eras of the survival game show will be considered for the cast. He also said season 50 won’t be another winners season. It’s all about celebrating the 50 seasons of the show that premiered in 2000. The host gave another update about which players he’s looking to cast.
‘Survivor 50’ Won’t Be Full of Villains and Feuds
People’s casting predictions might change after Probst’s latest interview. “The first word that came to me was celebrate,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “And that’s important to me because that’s going to guide us into our creative. We want fans to be happy. We want this to be a celebration.” The host specifically said this won’t be another winners at war.
“It doesn’t mean we don’t want players who are going to play hard,” Probst added. “Of course we do. But it means we’re also big-picture trying to celebrate 25 years, and that means joyful players who are in a good mood and want to play. We’re not looking for disgruntled players looking to settle a score. We’re looking for players who want a second chance, who have something to prove to themselves.”
This isn’t surprising considering Probst loves to challenge fans to apply for the show and encourage castaways to never quit in the face of adversity. One of the most beloved castaways is Cirie Fields whose story was about leaving her couch to compete in a survival show. Probst said he welcomes former castaways to be excited about season 50. Fans have a while to see who makes the cut. The season will air in 2026.
