HBO’s third, and final, season of the Lisa Kudrow comedy The Comeback has filled out its guest starring castmembers.
Joining the comedy are John Early, Abbi Jacobson, Barry Shabaka Henley, Tony Macht, Brittany O’Grady, Zane Phillips and Julian Stern in a TV debut, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
They join already announced series regulars Kudrow, Dan Bucatinsky, Laura Silverman and Damian Young 20 years after the first season debuted in 2005, and 10 years after season two. The Comeback stars Kudrow as Valerie Cherish, an actress who appeared on a hit sitcom in the early 1990s and who’s trying to make her way back into the spotlight.
The first season followed her as she’s cast in a new comedy, with the stipulation that she also appear in a reality show about the making of the scripted series. Season two saw Cherish cast in an HBO project about the sitcom writer who made her life hell in season one, earning widespread acclaim professionally even as her personal life was falling apart.
The third season for The Comeback from Michael Patrick King and Kudrow has begun production ahead of a debut on HBO and HBO Max set for 2026. King and Kudrow are executive producing alongside John Melfi and Dan Bucatinsky.

Early is represented by UTA and Rise Management, while Henley is represented by BRS Gage and Rugolo Entertainment. Jacobson is represented by UTA, Macht is represented by Sweet 180 and Nicolosi & Co. and O’Grady is represented by CAA and Suskin/Karshan Management. Phillips is represented by BRS/Gage and Prime Talent Media, while Stern is represented by Untitled Entertainment.
Deadline was first to report on final season casting for The Comeback.
