Well, let me tell ya ’bout them movie theaters in New Haven, you know, the places where they show them pictures, big as life.
Movie Theaters in New Haven, What a Show!
First off, there’s this Cinemark North Haven and XD. Folks say it’s real fancy, with them big screens and comfy seats. I ain’t been there myself, mind you, too much fuss for an old woman like me. But my grandkids, they love it. They say the picture’s so clear, it’s like you’re right there in the movie! And that XD thing, must be somethin’ special, they charge extra for it, you know. Heard it’s got them speakers all around, makes the whole place rumble. Sounds like a lot of noise to me, but the young’uns, they eat it up.
Then there’s the Fairmount Theater. Now, that one’s been around a while. It’s a bit smaller, not as flashy as that Cinemark, but it’s got character. They show all sorts of movies there, not just the new ones. Sometimes they even have them old black and white films, the kind I used to watch when I was a girl. Tickets are cheaper too, which is good for folks on a budget, like me. And it’s right in town, easy to get to. No need to drive all over creation.
Cine 4, that’s another one. Don’t know much about that one, to be honest. Just seen the name on the signs around town. Guess it’s another one of them picture houses. Probably got popcorn and soda, same as the rest of ’em.
And that AMC Marquis 16, that’s a big one, they say. Sixteen screens! Can you imagine? That’s a whole lotta movies. Must be somethin’ for everyone there. Probably got all them fancy snacks too, them nachos and whatnot. Kids love that stuff, but it just gives me a bellyache. Too much salt, if you ask me.
- Fancy places like Cinemark: Good for young folks who like big screens and loud sound.
- Old-timey places like Fairmount: Good for folks who like a deal and don’t need all the fancy stuff.
- Other places like Cine 4 and AMC Marquis 16: Lots of choices, something for everyone, I reckon.
Now, if you’re lookin’ for movie times, you gotta check them online thingamajigs, or the newspaper, if they still print them. I don’t mess with that internet stuff much, makes my head spin. But my grandson, he’s good at it. He can find anything on that little phone of his. He says you can even buy your tickets online now, no need to wait in line. Times sure have changed.
And speakin’ of times, they got all sorts of showtimes, you know. Matinees in the afternoon, for the early birds and the folks who don’t like to stay out late. Then they got the evenin’ shows, for the night owls. And on weekends, they got even more, I think. It’s a regular movie marathon sometimes. Don’t know how folks find the time to watch all them pictures.
They got different kinds of movies too. Some are funny, make you laugh ’til your sides hurt. Some are sad, make you cry like a baby. And some are scary, make you jump right outta your seat. I don’t like them scary ones much, gives me nightmares. Prefer a good old-fashioned love story, or maybe a Western. Something with a happy ending, you know?
So, if you’re lookin’ for a place to watch a movie in New Haven, you got plenty of choices. Just depends on what you’re lookin’ for and how much you wanna spend. Me? I’ll probably stick to the Fairmount. It’s good enough for me. And if they happen to be showin’ one of them old black and white films, well, that’s just the icing on the cake.
Finding Showtimes and Tickets
Like I said, the young’uns use the internet for showtimes and tickets. They talk about somethin’ called Fandango. Sounds like a dance, but it’s one of them websites, I guess. You can find all the movies and showtimes there. And you can buy your tickets too, right from your phone. Saves you a trip to the theater, which is good, especially if it’s rainin’ or snowin’.
But if you’re like me and don’t like that internet stuff, you can always call the theater. They got people answerin’ the phones, they’ll tell you what movies are playin’ and when. Or you can just go down there and see for yourself. That’s what I used to do, back in the day. Just walk right up to the ticket booth and ask what’s showin’. Simple as that. Course, you might have to wait in line a bit, but that’s alright. Gives you time to chat with the other folks. That’s somethin’ you don’t get when you buy tickets online. You miss out on all the gossip.
Anyways, that’s all I know about them movie theaters in New Haven. Hope it helps ya find what you’re lookin’ for. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. Got a hankerin’ for some good old-fashioned meatloaf.
