Well, lemme tell ya, that Redbox thing got some new scary movies. You know, the kinda movies that make ya jump outta your skin? I heard from my neighbor, she said there’s a whole bunch of ’em. If you like them horror movies, then you gonna wanna check it out. They got all kinds, the ones with them creepy crawlies and the ones with them things that go bump in the night. All new, she said.
They call ’em new horror movies on Redbox, I reckon. Like, fresh out the oven, still hot and steamin’ with scares. My neighbor, she’s a good egg, she told me all about it. Says you can get ’em at them little red boxes, or somethin’ called VOD. I don’t know ’bout that fancy stuff, but she says it’s easy. Just gotta have one of them smart phone things or a computer, I guess. My grandson, he could probably figure it out. He’s always on that thing.
I ain’t seen these movies myself, mind ya. I don’t rightly like to be scared outta my wits, but if that’s your cup of tea, then you go right ahead. Just don’t come cryin’ to me when you can’t sleep at night! My neighbor, she likes them scary ones. Says it gives her a thrill. Me, I’d rather watch somethin’ nice and peaceful, like them shows about people findin’ love.
But yeah, new horror movies, that’s what they are. She said there’s one about a train, or somethin’. And another one about a, uh, what’s it called…an exorcist. That sounds spooky, don’t it? I remember back in the day, we used to hear stories ’bout things like that. Old wives’ tales, mostly. But still, makes ya wonder, don’t it?
And that ain’t all. There’s a whole mess of ’em. Somethin’ about a void. Don’t rightly know what that means, but it sure sounds creepy. I mean, a void? What’s that supposed to be? A big empty nothin’? Sounds like somethin’ you don’t wanna mess with, if you ask me. These young folks today, they like all this weird stuff. In my day, we didn’t have none of that.
They even got some for free. Free is good, ain’t it? You can watch some horror without paying the money. Just gotta watch them little ads, I guess. I don’t mind them too much. Gives me a chance to get up and stretch my legs. They say there are some other things to watch, too, that ain’t scary. Stand-up comedy, and them things about real life, documentaries, they call ’em.
If you want to know what is good. You can check that “Tomatometer”. It is like a score thing. High score means good movie, they say. This old lady don’t understand it, but my grandson, he probably knows.

She’s a good woman, even if she does like them scary movies. I still don’t know how she can watch them things. Gives me the willies just thinkin’ about it.
I heard that if you want to watch these, you need to download their app thing, they call it the Redbox App. But you need to have that computer or tablet. My old eyes can not see clearly on that small phone screen.
You know, back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy gadgets. We had to make our own fun. We’d tell stories around the fire, and sometimes those stories were scarier than any movie. We didn’t need no Redbox or VOD or nothin’ like that. We had our imaginations, and that was enough. But times change, I guess. And these young folks, they like their technology. They need some JavaScript thing to be on for the app to run. I don’t know what it is. But my grandson told me it is needed.
Anyway, if you like to be scared, these new horror movies are probably for you. Just remember what I said about not comin’ to me when you can’t sleep. You been warned! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go watch somethin’ a little more my speed. Somethin’ nice and calm. Maybe one of them romance shows. Or maybe I’ll just sit here and knit. That’s always peaceful. And no scary monsters jumpin’ out at ya!
