Well, let me tell ya ’bout this movie place, ya know, the one over on Odlin Road in Bangor, Maine. They call it somethin’ fancy, Hollywood Cinemas or somethin’, but to me, it’s just the picture show. Ain’t got time for all them fancy names, ya hear?
Now, I ain’t been there myself lately, my old bones ain’t up for all that sittin’ and noise, but my grandkids, they go all the time. They say it’s real nice now, all fixed up. They did somethin’ they called a “ren-o-vay-shun” back in 2020. Sounds like a lotta work to me. Kids say it’s got seven screens now, which means they got a whole bunch of movies playin’ at once. Back in my day, ya had one movie, and that was it. If ya didn’t like it, well, tough luck, buttercup!
Seein’ a Movie in Bangor
They got all sorts of movies playin’, the kids tell me. Action ones, funny ones, scary ones… Lord, I don’t know how they come up with all that stuff. They even got these computer-made movies now. Can ya believe it? Pictures movin’ all on their own, ain’t nobody even gotta act in ’em. It’s a whole different world, I tell ya.
My grandkids, they’re always lookin’ at them movie times online. They got this thing called the internet, see? It tells ya when the movies are playin’ and ya can even buy your tickets ahead of time. Saves ya standin’ in line, I guess. Back in my day, ya just showed up and hoped for the best. Sometimes ya had to wait, sometimes ya didn’t. Life was simpler then, ya know?

- Lookin’ online is the best way, the kids say. They use somethin’ called Webedia Entertainment, whatever that is. Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me, but it works for them. And they got that other place, Movie Rocket, on Odlin Road too. More movies, I guess.
- Ya can also go to the theater itself and see what’s playin’. They got them posters up, ya know, with the pretty pictures and all.
Gettin’ Tickets
Like I said, the kids buy their tickets online now. They say it’s easier. You can probably get them at the place itself too, I reckon. They also told me something about Tuesdays bein’ cheaper. Half price or somethin’. Said it was the best time to go if ya wanna save some money. And durin’ the day is cheaper too, before five o’clock. Smart, them movie folks, they know how to get ya in there.
That Fendler Boy Movie
Oh, and I heard they had a movie about that Fendler boy, the one who got lost in the woods up north. Poor kid, can’t imagine what that was like. My own young’uns used to wander off sometimes, scared me half to death. Anyway, they made a movie about it. Don’t know if it played at the Odlin Road place, but probably did. Folks ‘round here like them stories about our own people, ya know?
Skip the Line, See the Show!
And them kids are always talkin’ about skippin’ the line. Apparently you can buy special tickets that let ya go right in, no waitin’. Seems like a waste of money to me, but I guess some folks got more money than time. Me, I always got more time than money, that’s for sure.
So, that’s the story about the movie place on Odlin Road, as best as I can tell ya. It’s a fancy place, with lots of movies and lots of ways to get tickets. If ya like movies, I guess it’s the place to be. Me? I’ll stick to my stories and my rockin’ chair. Less noise, less money, and just as much fun, if ya ask me.
Movies, Movies Everywhere!
And it ain’t just that one place, ya know. Bangor’s got a few movie places. Seems like everyone’s always tryin’ to sell ya somethin’ these days. Back in my day, ya had one general store, one movie theater, and that was it. Now, ya got choices everywhere ya look. Confusin’ if ya ask me, but the young folks seem to like it.
So there ya have it, a whole lotta nothin’ about the movies in Bangor. Hope it made some kinda sense to ya. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make myself a cup of tea. All this talkin’s made my throat dry.
