So, I heard about this thing called “Movies in the Park” happening around Orange County. Sounds pretty chill, right? Watching movies outside, under the stars. I thought, why not give it a shot? Plus, it’s free! Who doesn’t like free stuff?
First, I checked out which parks were having these movie nights. Turns out, there were a bunch! It was part of this OC Parks Summer Concert Series, which also has, you guessed it, concerts. They had these events lined up for every Thursday evening, nine in total. Sounds like a good way to spend those summer nights. I picked one that was kind of close by and decided to go last week.
Packed a little picnic basket – some sandwiches, chips, you know, the usual movie snacks. Grabbed a blanket too, since it might get a bit chilly later in the evening. I made sure to get there a bit early to find a good spot. There were already some people setting up, claiming their territory with blankets and lawn chairs. Smart move.
The atmosphere was great. Super family-friendly. Kids were running around, people were chatting, and the sun was starting to set. It felt like a real community thing, you know? Once it got dark enough, they started the movie.

All in all, it was a fun night. If you’re in Orange County during the summer, I would definitely suggest checking out the “Movies in the Park”. It is a great way to spend a Thursday evening, especially if you have a family. But even if you are solo, it’s a nice way to relax and enjoy a movie in a different setting. I will definitely be going back to another one before the summer ends!
