So, the other day I was thinking, I really wanted to watch something chill, something like “Friday,” you know? That movie is just a classic, always good for a laugh. But I’d seen it like a million times already, so I was on the hunt for something similar.
First, I started by making a list of what I liked about “Friday.” It’s funny, it’s got that neighborhood vibe, and it’s just a great way to kick back and relax. Plus, Ice Cube is a legend.
- Humor
- Culture
- Real-life experiences
- Hip-hop
Then, I did some digging online. I just googled “movies similar to Friday,” and boy, did I find a ton of suggestions! There were lists everywhere, like, “24 Movies Like Friday,” “13 Movies Like Friday,” you name it. I started going through them, checking out trailers and reading reviews. People were talking about all kinds of movies, from older stuff to newer releases. They were saying that these movies had a similar feel to “Friday,” you know, that same kind of humor and realness.
I even stumbled upon this site called Letterboxd, and it had like 66 films similar to “Friday.” Can you believe that? 66! I started adding a bunch of them to my watchlist. I also checked which ones were on Netflix, Amazon, and other streaming services, just to make it easy to find them later.
It’s cool because a lot of these movies are about that hip-hop era, which I’m really into. You’ve got these characters who are kind of like antiheroes, just trying to make it in their neighborhoods. It’s funny, but it’s also kind of real, you know? They show the struggles and everything, but in a way that’s still entertaining.
I ended up finding a bunch of movies that I’m excited to watch. Some of them are classics that I’ve heard of before, and some are newer ones that I’d never even heard of. It’s like a whole new world of movies opened up for me, all thanks to “Friday.”

So yeah, that’s my little adventure in finding movies like “Friday.” It was a fun little project, and now I’ve got a ton of stuff to add to my watchlist. If you’re ever looking for something to watch, I definitely recommend doing something like this. You might be surprised at what you find!
