Okay, so the other day I was really in the mood for a good scare, and I remembered “The Entity,” that 1982 movie about a woman being tormented by an invisible force. Super creepy, right? But I’d seen it a million times, so I wanted something similar, but new to me. This is how I went about finding some.
Digging for Similar Frights
First, I fired up my trusty old computer. No fancy stuff, just opened my browser. Then I headed straight to google. I typed in “movies similar to The Entity”.
I scrolled through the google search page, and I found some interesting discussions on Reddit.
Next,I spent a good chunk of time just reading through all this stuff. Note down titles that came up, and making a mental note of why people thought they were similar to “The Entity.” Was it the supernatural element? The focus on a female protagonist? The feeling of dread and helplessness?
Building My Watchlist
After all that digging, I had a pretty solid list. I’d jotted down:
- Poltergeist (1982): Of Course. Everyone always mentions this one.
- The Changeling (1980): I seen this, and it’s a good, spooky haunted house flick.
- The Conjuring (2013): This modern one, based on a “true” story.
- The Innocents (1961): A classic black and white, Psychological horror.
The Real Test: Watching!
Now for the fun part – actually watching the movies! I decided to start with “The Conjuring” because I’m kind of into those “based on a true story” things, even if they’re probably exaggerated.

And…it was pretty good! Definitely had that creepy, unsettling vibe I was looking for. It’s more jump-scare-heavy than “The Entity,” but it still had that feeling of something unseen messing with people.
Then “The Innocents” is a little slow, but I very enjoy it!
So, that’s how my little movie-finding adventure went. I’ve still got a few more on my list to check out, but so far, so good! It’s always cool to find new (or new-to-you) movies that give you that same feeling as an old favorite. If you’re also looking for something similar, give those a try. You might just find your next scary movie night pick!
