Natasha Henstridge and Joshua Close have joined Josh Hartnett in Jesse McKeown’s upcoming untitled Newfoundland series now shooting on Canada’s east coast.

McKeown is the showrunner of the limited series set in Newfoundland, Canada’s easternmost province, and centering on a mysterious sea creature terrorizing a remote seaside town. Close will play Officer Jaxon Noseworthy and Henstridge will play Jan in the series where Hartnett is a hard-bitten fisherman having to fight to protect his family, his community and his vanishing way of life.

The series, which has yet to receive a title, will see Newfoundland play Newfoundland as the rugged and picturesque Atlantic ocean provides the backdrop for the hunt for a sea creature. Amazon Prime’s Reacher and Apple TV’s Severance have also shot in the Canadian province.

Henstridge has film and TV credits that include Would Be Kings, Commander in Chief, Diggstown and The Whole Nine Yards. Close most recently starred in Paramount+’s Unspeakable: The Murder of JonBenet Ramsey miniseries, and is also set to star in the upcoming Netflix thriller Wayward.

McKeown, a veteran screenwriter on hit TV series like The Umbrella Academy and 19-2, is also executive producing the sea creature series along with Chris Hatcher and Sharon Hall. The writers are Karen Walton (Orphan Black), Perry Chafe and Natty Zavitz.
