Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this Netflix thing, specifically the whole L4 versus L5 situation. It’s a real head-scratcher, let me tell you. I mean, you can only get referred for one position, right? So, you gotta make it count. I finally managed to whittle it down to two options – one’s an L5 gig and the other’s L4.
Trying to Figure Out L4
First off, I dug into this L4 thing. From what I gathered, it seems like L4 is kinda like the middle of the pack at Netflix. You know, not exactly fresh out of college, but you’re not exactly running the show either. It’s like, you’ve got your feet wet, but there’s still plenty of room to, like, climb the ladder and become a big shot L5 or even an L6 someday. I spent a good chunk of time reading up on what it takes to actually land one of these software engineer jobs at Netflix. They say that mission is to entertain the world. I guess that’s why landing a job is so hard. Anyway, I did a lot of reading about interview prep and stuff to get myself ready, just in case.
What About L5?
Then I started looking at the L5 position. Now, this one is definitely a step up. It’s more senior, more responsibility, you know, the whole nine yards. I spent hours just comparing the two, trying to weigh the pros and cons. Do I want to jump straight into something more challenging, or play it a bit safer with the L4? It’s a tough call.
Making a Decision
I’ve been going back and forth on this for days now. One minute I’m all gung-ho about the L5, thinking, “Yeah, I can totally handle that!” Then the next, I’m second-guessing myself, wondering if I should just stick with the L4 and get my bearings first. I even tried to, like, visualize myself in each role, trying to see which one felt like a better fit. I imagined myself in meetings, writing code, all that jazz. I really want to make sure I am making the best choice.
Still Thinking
So, yeah, that’s where I’m at right now. Still up in the air, still trying to decide. It’s a big decision, and I don’t wanna rush into it. I gotta say, though, it’s pretty exciting to even be considering these kinds of opportunities. I mean, it’s Netflix! Who wouldn’t want to work there? But yeah, I’ll keep you guys posted on what I decide. Wish me luck!
- Think about the future: What do I want to achieve in my career?
- Consider my skill set: Do I fit better with L4 or L5?
- Decide: Just pick one, don’t overthink!
It’s like choosing between a really good slice of pizza and an even bigger, more loaded slice of pizza. Both are awesome, but which one do you really want?
