Okay, so I was digging around for something to watch on Netflix, right? And I was in the mood for motorcycles. Not just any flick with bikes in it, but a real, gritty documentary about them.

First off, I tried typing in “motorcycle documentaries” in the search bar. Boom! A few things popped up, but honestly, it was a bit of a mixed bag. There’s this one scripted thing called “Maverix” – it’s about motocross, which is cool, but not exactly what I was after. And then there was “Centaura,” some drama about a superbike racer. Sounds intense, but again, not a documentary.

What I Ended Up Watching

  • TT3D: Closer To The Edge – This one’s about the Isle of Man TT race. Super intense and gives you a real feel for the danger and thrill of it all.
  • Hitting The Apex – Narrated by Brad Pitt, no less! It dives into the world of MotoGP racing. Lots of behind-the-scenes stuff, which I love.
  • Why We Ride – Man, this one really hit home. It’s not just about racing, it’s about the community and the passion. Made me want to get on my bike right then and there.
  • Being Evel – If you don’t know about Evel Knievel, you gotta watch this. The guy was a legend, and this doc shows you all the highs and lows of his crazy career.
  • Fastest – Another MotoGP one, but it focuses on Valentino Rossi, one of the greatest racers ever.
  • Oil In The Blood – This one is awesome, all about the custom motorcycle scene, the builders, the artists. It’s not just about speed, it’s about the craft and love for motorcycles.
  • Greasy – This one’s a bit rough around the edges, but it’s got heart. It’s about the passion, the freedom, and just loving the ride.

I also stumbled upon some TV series, not documentaries but still worth mentioning. “Sons of Anarchy” kept popping up. I gave it a shot, and wow, it’s addictive! It’s all about an outlaw motorcycle club, and the main guy, Jax Teller, played by Charlie Hunnam, is just magnetic. It’s not real life, obviously, but it’s a wild ride.

Then there’s this new movie coming out, “The Bikeriders” (2024). It’s about a fictional club called the Vandals. The trailer looks promising, with some serious “Easy Rider” vibes. I’ll definitely be checking that out when it hits theaters.

Oh, and I found out Netflix picked up a documentary called “Speed Is My Need.” It’s about motorcycle racing, made in the UK. Haven’t seen it yet, but it’s on my list now.

So, yeah, finding a good motorcycle documentary on Netflix took a bit of digging. There’s some good stuff, but you gotta sift through some dramas and series to get to the real gems. It’s a bit messy, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right? Finding those hidden treasures makes it all the more satisfying. It’s a journey, just like riding itself. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner, but you’re always up for the adventure.

End of the day, if you’re into motorcycles, you’ll find something to enjoy. Just be prepared to do a little exploring!
