This here Netflix, I tell ya, it’s got me all riled up. They keep changin’ things, and not for the better, I say. It’s like they’re puttin’ pepper in the sugar bowl, just don’t make no sense. This whole Netflix race swapping thing, it’s just a mess. They take these stories we all know, and they switch things up just for the sake of it. Like, they got this Cleopatra woman, a queen from Egypt, and they made her… well, not like she’s supposed to be. I saw that trailer for Cleopatra and, well, I just didn’t know what to think. Now, Cleopatra, she was a queen, a powerful woman. I ain’t sayin’ she weren’t. But this here show… it just don’t sit right with me.

They say they’re tryin’ to be “diverse”, puttin’ all sorts of folks in these shows. But it’s like plantin’ corn in the winter, it just ain’t natural. And some folks, they think these big companies, they’re just doin’ it to make the “liberal” people happy. It ain’t about what’s right for the story, it’s about what folks is gonna like. They just do this Netflix race swapping to get more people to watch it. I heard some young folks say that people are learning that this forced diversity is just bad storytellin’. It’s got bad effects, and the actors, they ain’t even tryin’. They’re puttin’ in the minimum effort, as they say. But, I’m tellin’ you, it ain’t gonna last. People ain’t gonna keep watchin’ shows that ain’t no good, no matter how “diverse” they are.

And what about them stories that are already about different folks? Like that “Fresh Prince” fella, or that “Black Panther”. Why they ain’t messin’ with them? It ain’t about makin’ things different, it’s about changin’ what’s already there. And for what? It’s like they’re takin’ our stories and paintin’ them a different color, and for no good reason. I just don’t understand this Netflix race swapping. And I ain’t the only one. Lots of folks is confused and upset about it. They don’t want to see these stories changed like that. They don’t make it any better, or more interestin’. It’s just different, and not in a good way.

  • They say it’s “erasing history,” like takin’ a wet rag to a chalkboard.
  • You remember that story about “The Little Mermaid”? Or “Sleeping Beauty”?
  • They changed those stories too, and folks weren’t happy.
  • This Netflix race swapping is really a bad thing.

I remember, back in my day, we told stories the way they were meant to be told. We didn’t change things just to be different. We told them the way they were handed down to us, and that’s how it should be. I find it interestin’ that out of dozens of alterations to stories, they always change the same thing. This Netflix race swapping is just not right. You can’t just change history like that, like it’s some kinda plaything. It’s disrespectful, that’s what it is. And it ain’t just about the color of someone’s skin, it’s about the whole story. It’s about where they came from, what they did, and why they did it. You can’t just change all that and expect it to still make sense. It is like takin’ the wheels off a car and expectin’ it to still drive.

Now, they got this other show, I can’t recall the name, but there’s some things in it that ain’t right. Some folks have started askin’ questions about how they’re doin’ things. It ain’t just about the Netflix race swapping, it’s about other stuff too. It’s like they’re tryin’ to change everything, just for the sake of it. And it ain’t just Netflix, it’s all them other ones too. They’re all doin’ it. It’s like a sickness, spreadin’ everywhere. And I don’t know what to do about it, except shake my head and wonder what the world’s comin’ to. I just don’t know anymore.

I reckon things are just gonna keep changin’, and not for the better. But I’ll still be here, watchin’ and wonderin’, and shakin’ my head. This whole Netflix race swapping thing, it’s just a sign of the times, I guess. A sign that things ain’t what they used to be, and they ain’t never gonna be the same again. But we gotta keep tellin’ our stories, the right way, the way they were meant to be told. Maybe someday, folks will listen. Maybe someday, they’ll understand. I just hope I live long enough to see it.
