Alright, listen up, y’all. I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout this Netflix thing, somethin’ ’bout gettin’ money for school. Now, I ain’t no fancy scholar or nothin’, but I can tell ya what I heard, plain and simple.
Seems like Netflix, that picture show place, they got some money they wanna give away. They call it a “scholarship”, sounds all highfalutin, but it just means they’ll help ya pay for school. Any kind of school, too, near as I can tell. You could be learnin’ to fix cars, or bake pies, or even, Lord help ya, study them picture shows themselves. They don’t care much as long as you like watchin’ their shows, it seems.
Now, they got this one thing, they call it the “Netflix Formation Program”. Sounds fancy, right? But it’s just a way for them to give money to folks who wanna make movies and such. They got all sorts of rules and deadlines, mind you. Somethin’ about applyin’ by March 5th, whatever that means. Probably gotta fill out some papers and such.
- They got deadlines, so don’t be draggin’ your feet.
- You gotta be wantin’ to make movies or TV shows.
- They even got money for folks just watchin’ their shows.
And then there’s this other thing, a big ol’ pile of money, somethin’ like 5.4 million dollars! They givin’ it to some school called Howard University. And it’s all in the name of that fella, Chadwick Boseman, the one from that Black Panther movie. Nice fella, he was. Real shame he passed on. Anyway, that money, it’s for kids who wanna do artsy stuff, you know, paintin’, singin’, actin’, that kinda thing.
They call it the “Chadwick A. Boseman Memorial Scholarship”. Big words, I tell ya. But it means they’ll pay for four years of school, everything! Tuition, books, the whole shebang. But you gotta be good at that artsy stuff, real good. They ain’t givin’ it away to just anybody, you hear?
And there’s more, they got this other scholarship, this one is smaller, somethin’ like 750 dollars, for folks who wanna make movies, for them what they call “film studies”. It sounds like you gotta write somethin’ ‘bout your favorite movie or show on Netflix to get it. Now, I reckon that ain’t too hard, even I could do that. I love watchin’ them old westerns and them murder mysteries.
They also got some rules about who can get the money. You gotta be goin’ to school after you finish college, somethin’ they call “postgraduate”. And you gotta have good grades, at least a 60%, whatever that means. And you can’t be gettin’ money from nobody else, just Netflix. They want ya all to themselves, it seems. They want to make sure you’re good enough, not just some lazy bum lookin’ for a handout.
Now, I ain’t no expert, but it sounds like Netflix is lookin’ for folks who are serious about learnin’ and makin’ stuff. They ain’t just handin’ out money to anyone. You gotta be good, you gotta be willin’ to work hard, and you gotta follow their rules. And if you do all that, well, maybe you can get yourself some of that Netflix money.
So, if you’re thinkin’ ’bout goin’ to school, and you like them Netflix shows, maybe you should look into this scholarship thing. It might just be the ticket to gettin’ yourself a good education without breakin’ the bank. Just remember what I told ya, and you might just be alright.
And one more thing, if you ain’t in school, but still wanna watch Netflix without payin’ too much, you can share an account with your kin or your neighbors. That’s what my grandson does. Saves a bit of money, he says. And money’s always a good thing to save, wouldn’t you agree?
So there you have it, all I know about this Netflix scholarship business. Hope it helps ya, and good luck gettin’ that money if you go after it.
