Well, howdy there, y’all! Let’s chew the fat about this new Adventist movie, the one they’re callin’ “The Hopeful Movie.” I ain’t no fancy movie critic, mind you, just a plain ol’ body tellin’ it like it is. But I heard folks talkin’, and I reckon it’s somethin’ worth gabbin’ about.
First off, they’re sayin’ it’s all about findin’ where faith comes from. Discover the Origins of Faith, that’s what the city folk are callin’ it. Now, I ain’t sure what all that big talk means, but I reckon it’s about how folks start believin’ in the first place. You know, like when you see a good rain after a long dry spell, you start believin’ somethin’s lookin’ out for ya. Maybe that’s what they mean.
- Is it about folks long ago?
- Is it about how people start believing in God?
- Is it a good story? That’s what I want to know.
They’re makin’ a big fuss about the premiere, sayin’ it’s a Premiere Alert. Sounds fancy, huh? Like when the fire alarm goes off, only this time it’s for a movie. I reckon they want everyone to see it right off the bat.
Now, I seen some folks on the internet, on that Facebook thingamajig, they was sayin’ Only three days left until #TheHopefulMovie. That means it’s comin’ out soon, real soon. I bet folks are gonna be linin’ up like crows on a fence, waitin’ to get in.
I heard tell this movie is about Adventists. Now, I know some Adventists. Good folks, mostly. They go to church on Saturdays, and they don’t eat no meat, or least some of ’em don’t. They talk a lot about the Bible and Jesus. I reckon this movie is gonna be about that kind of stuff. Maybe it’ll tell stories from the Bible, or maybe it’ll be about Adventists today. I ain’t rightly sure.
I hope it ain’t too preachy, though. I like a good story, but I don’t like bein’ told what to do. You know, like when your preacher starts thumpin’ the pulpit and yellin’ about sin. That just makes me wanna take a nap. I hope this movie is more like… well, like a good story around a campfire. Somethin’ that makes you think, but don’t make you feel like you done somethin’ wrong.
I’m curious about what kind of folks is in this movie. Are they gonna be city folk, all dressed up in fancy clothes? Or are they gonna be plain folks, like you and me? I hope they got some good actors, folks who can make you believe what they’re sayin’. There’s nothin’ worse than a movie with bad actors, ‘cept maybe a burnt biscuit.
And what about the music? A good movie needs good music. Somethin’ that makes you feel somethin’. Like when you hear a sad song and it makes you wanna cry, or you hear a happy song and it makes you wanna tap your feet. I hope they got some good singers and some good fiddlers in this movie.
I also wonder if it’s one of them movies that’s gonna make you sad, or if it’s gonna make you happy. Sometimes I like a good cry at the movies, but sometimes I just want to laugh and have a good time. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what kind of movie this new adventist movie is.
So, I reckon that’s all I got to say about this new Adventist movie. Like I said, I ain’t no expert, but I’m lookin’ forward to seein’ it. Maybe it’ll be good, maybe it’ll be bad, but I reckon it’ll be somethin’ to talk about. And who knows, maybe it’ll even help folks find a little hope in this crazy world. And maybe it’ll teach us all a little somethin’ about where faith comes from, like they sayin’.
One thing’s for sure, though: this The Hopeful Movie has got folks talkin’. And that’s gotta be a good sign, right?
