Well, howdy there! Let’s yak about somethin’ I reckon you young’uns are callin’ “new Christian movies,” or somethin’ like that. You know, them pictures about Jesus and God and all that good stuff. I ain’t too fancy with words, so just bear with me, alright?

What are these here new Christian movies anyway?

Seems like every now and then, some folks get together and make a movie about God. Not like them old black and white ones they used to show at the town hall, though. These new ones, they’re in color and sometimes they even got them fancy special effects, like things explodin’ and such. They tell stories about folks findin’ God, or folks losin’ God and then findin’ Him again. You know, the usual.

I heard tell of one called “The Forge.” Came out this year, 2024, I think. Some fellers named Kendrick made it. They done made a bunch of these movies, I reckon. This one, it’s like a follow-up to another one they made called “War Room.” Don’t rightly know what that one’s about, but I heard it was right popular with the church folks.

Then there’s another one, comin’ out later this year, called “God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust.” Sounds mighty powerful, don’t it? A feller named Vance Null, he’s the one tellin’ folks what to do in that one. He’s the director, they call him. Guess he’s like the boss man of the whole shebang. September 12th, that’s when it’s comin’ out, least that’s what I heard tell.

  • Are they any good?
  • Well, that depends on who you’re askin’. Some folks, they love ’em. They say it makes ’em feel all warm and fuzzy inside and reminds ’em to be good and kind and all that. Other folks, they ain’t so impressed. They say they’re too preachy, or the stories ain’t that good, or the acting’s kinda wooden. You know, like them store mannequins.

I reckon it’s like anything else in life, you gotta take it with a grain of salt. Some of ’em are good, some of ’em ain’t so good. But if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ that’ll lift your spirits and maybe teach you a thing or two about the Good Lord, then they might be worth a watch.

Why do folks make these movies?

Well, I reckon they make ’em ’cause they wanna share their faith with others. They believe in God and they wanna tell the world about Him. And I guess they figure a movie’s a good way to do that. Gets the message out to a lot of folks all at once, you know?

And some of ’em, I reckon they make ’em ’cause they wanna make a little money too. Nothin’ wrong with that, I s’pose. Everybody’s gotta make a livin’, right? Heck, I heard tell that one movie, made by that feller Dallas Jenkins, it made over 25 million dollars! That’s a whole lotta money, I tell ya. Enough to buy a whole herd of cows!

Where can you find these movies?

Well, you can usually find ’em at the movie theater, least when they first come out. But after a while, they usually end up on them DVD things, or on them internet streaming services. You know, like Netflix and Hulu and all them others. I ain’t too good with them things, but my grandkids, they know all about it. They could probably find one of them Christian movies faster than a rooster can crow.

Should you watch ’em?

Well, that’s up to you, ain’t it? If you’re curious, or if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ wholesome to watch, then give ’em a try. But don’t go expectin’ no Hollywood blockbuster, you hear? These ain’t them big-budget action movies with all the explosions and car chases. These are movies about faith and family and forgiveness. And sometimes, that’s just what a person needs.

Now, I heard tell of another one, “Bonhoeffer: Pastor. Spy. Assassin.” Sounds kinda scary, don’t it? Guess it’s about a preacher man who was also a spy and maybe even killed somebody. Don’t rightly know when that one’s comin’ out, but it’s somethin’ to keep an eye out for, I reckon.

And then there’s “The Hiding Place,” I think that one’s been around a while but it seems like these movies get talked about again as the year ends. They say that one’s pretty good too. Lots of folks trying to show God’s love, I reckon, it’s a good thing. Anyways, I ain’t seen all these new Christian movies, so I can’t tell you which ones are the best. But I reckon there’s somethin’ out there for everybody. Just gotta find the one that speaks to your heart.

So, there you have it. That’s my two cents on them new Christian movies. Hope it made some sense to ya. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my biscuits. Don’t wanna burn ’em, you know!
