Well, howdy there! Let me tell ya ’bout them new Christian movies, the ones folks are talkin’ about. I ain’t no fancy movie critic or nothin’, but I know what I like, and I reckon you might too.
Movies for the Soul, that’s what I call ’em. They ain’t just fillin’ your head with nonsense, you know? They got stories that stick with ya, make ya think ’bout life and what’s right and what ain’t. Movies that make you feel good, not like them shoot-em-up bang-bang ones the young’uns watch these days.
Now, I heard tell of a new one comin’ out soon, called “God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust”. Heard it’s gonna be in theaters September 12, 2024. That fella Vance Null, he’s the director. Don’t know him from Adam, but if the movie’s good, that’s all that matters. Sounds like it’s gonna be one of them movies that gets you thinkin’ ’bout your faith, you know? Makin’ you remember what’s important.
I ain’t seen it yet, mind you, but it got me thinkin’ ’bout other Christian movies I have seen. Good ones, mind you. Movies that make you wanna be a better person. Like that one, “Breakthrough”. Oh, that one tugged at my heartstrings somethin’ fierce. A real tearjerker, that one was. But it showed ya the power of prayer, you see? Showed ya that miracles still happen.
Then there’s “Miracles from Heaven”, another one that’ll make ya cry a river. But it’s a good cry, you know? The kind that washes your soul clean. Little girl, sick as can be, and then, boom! Healed. It’s a powerful message, it is. Reminds you that there’s somethin’ bigger than us out there.
- And don’t forget about them movies like “Fireproof” and “War Room”. Them ones are about marriage and fightin’ for what’s right. They ain’t afraid to show you the hard parts, the struggles. But they also show you that with God’s help, you can overcome anything. Good strong messages, them movies have.
- Then you got “Overcomer”, a movie about findin’ your identity in God. And “God’s Not Dead”, well, they got a whole bunch of them now. Folks seem to like ’em. Guess it’s ‘cause they ain’t shy about talkin’ ’bout God. And that’s somethin’ we need more of these days, I reckon.
- I even watched “Facing the Giants” a while back. That one’s about facing your fears with faith. And “Heaven is Real”, about a little boy who says he went to heaven. Makes you wonder, it does. “Soul Surfer”, that’s another good one, about a girl who loses her arm but never loses her faith. And “The Shack”, well, that one’s a bit different, but it makes you think about forgiveness.
And there’s a new one, “A Week Away”, came out in 2021 I think. Heard it’s a bit more modern, with music and all. Not my usual cup of tea, but the young folks seem to like it. And if it gets them thinkin’ ’bout God, well, that’s a good thing in my book.
You know, these Christian movies, they ain’t just for church folks. They’re for anyone who’s lookin’ for somethin’ more, somethin’ real. They’re about faith, hope, and love. And ain’t that what we all need a little more of in our lives?
Now, I ain’t sayin’ these movies are perfect. Nothin’ is, ‘cept maybe the good Lord’s word. But they’re tryin’ to do somethin’ good. They’re tryin’ to tell stories that matter, stories that uplift and inspire. And that’s somethin’ I can get behind.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ good to watch, somethin’ that’ll feed your soul, give these Christian movies a try. You might just find somethin’ you like. And who knows, maybe they’ll even change your life a little bit. That’s what they did for me, anyhow.
And remember, you can find a lot of these movies on them streaming services now, like Amazon Prime. Easy as pie to watch ‘em right from your own home. No need to go traipsin’ all over town. Just sit back, relax, and let the good Lord’s message sink in.
Faith-based Entertainment is what I’d call it. Entertainment that does more than just entertain. It makes you think. It makes you feel. It makes you better.
Well, that’s all I got to say for now. Go on now, and watch yourself a good Christian movie. You won’t regret it.
