You know, I heard them young folks talkin’ ’bout them new J horror movies, makes me think back to them old ghost stories we used to tell. Back then, we didn’t need no fancy pictures to get scared, just a good story and a dark night. But these new movies, they got all sorts of scary things jumpin’ out at ya.
They say these J horror movies is from a place called Japan. Ain’t that somethin’? Scary movies comin’ from all the way over there. I reckon folks is scared of the same things all over the world. Ghosts and monsters and things that go bump in the night.
One of them movies they talkin’ about, it’s called “Exhuma”. Sounds like somethin’ you’d use to dig up taters, don’t it? But they say it’s about some Korean folks, doin’ some kinda scary stuff. Choi Min-sik, Kim Go-eun, them’s the names they was sayin’. I don’t know ’em, but they must be famous over there in Korea to be in a new J horror movie like that.
And this movie, it’s written and directed by someone called Jang Jae-hyun. I don’t know nothin’ ’bout directin’ no movies, but I reckon it takes a whole lot of folks to make one of them things. Just like makin’ a quilt, you need someone to cut the squares, someone to sew ’em together, and someone to stuff the battin’.
- They got all kinds of these scary movies comin’ out.
- They say 2024 is a big year for them horror movies.
- Some got names like “Alien” somethin’ and “The First Omen.” Sounds spooky, don’t it?
- Folks like them scary movies, I guess. They even vote on ’em.
I seen some pictures from these new J horror movies. Lots of dark shadows and creepy lookin’ places. They say these new ones is even scarier than the old ones. Imagine that! I remember seein’ some scary movies when I was younger, and they kept me up all night. I was sure there was somethin’ under my bed, waitin’ to grab my feet.
These young folks, they like to watch these scary things on them big screens. They call ’em “theaters”. We used to just have the one picture show in town, and it only showed somethin’ once a week. Now they got these fancy places with lots of different movies playin’ all the time. And they got that loud sound that makes you jump outta your seat!
They got somethin’ called “Rotten Tomatoes.” Sounds like somethin’ you’d throw out of the garden, right? But it’s how they tell if a movie is good or not. If it’s rotten, that means it ain’t no good. Less than 60% of folks liked it. If it’s fresh, that means it’s good. More than 60% liked it. I guess even movies can be rotten, huh?
One of them new movies, they say it’s inspired by some old story ’bout a lady named Mary Shelley. And they say it’s like them old “B-movies” from the ’80s. I don’t know much about that, but it sounds like it might be a real scary one. Some girl named Kathryn Newton is in it. She’s the star, I reckon.
I don’t know why folks like to be scared so much. Seems like there’s enough scary things in the real world without makin’ up more. But I guess it’s like eatin’ hot peppers. Some folks just like that burn. These new J horror movies, they probably give you that same kind of feeling, a good scare that makes your heart pound.
Well, I reckon I’ll stick to my quiltin’ and my garden. But if you young folks like them new J horror movies, then you go right ahead and watch ’em. Just don’t come cryin’ to me when you can’t sleep at night! And don’t be sayin’ there’s somethin’ under your bed, ’cause I told you so!
These new movies, they got all sorts of special effects. Things jumpin’ out at ya, lookin’ real as can be. In my day, they just had shadows and spooky music. But these new movies, they can make a monster look like it’s right there in the room with ya. I guess that’s why they so popular. Folks want that thrill.
But I tell ya, nothin’ beats a good old-fashioned ghost story told around a campfire. The cracklin’ of the fire, the hootin’ of the owls, the shadows dancin’ in the trees. That’s enough to give anyone the shivers. No need for no fancy new J horror movies. Just a good imagination and a dark night.
So you young folks enjoy your scary movies, but remember, sometimes the best scares are the ones you make up yourself. And that’s all there is to it about them new J horror movies.
