Alright, let me tell ya ’bout these movie places in New Orleans, the kind where you sit in your car. They call ’em “drive-in” movies, fancy name for watchin’ a flick outside, I reckon.

Now, I ain’t been to all these places myself, mind you. But I hear folks talkin’, and I read some things on that internet thingy my grandkid showed me. So, lemme tell ya what I know.

First off, there’s this place called The Broad Theater. Folks say it ain’t got the comfiest seats, but it’s the best darn movie place in the whole city. Imagine that! Best place, but your butt gets sore. Maybe bring a pillow, eh?

  • The Broad Theater: People say it’s the best, even if the seats ain’t great.
  • AMC DINE-IN Clearview Palace 12: Sounds fancy with that “dine-in” part. Guess you can eat while you watch. Probably expensive though.
  • Freddie’s Drive In: Now that sounds like a good ol’ fashioned place. Just plain “Freddie’s.” I like that.
  • Movie Tavern Covington: Another one with food, I guess. “Tavern” makes it sound like they got beer too. Not for me, but some folks like that.
  • AMC Westbank Palace 16: Another AMC, must be a big company. “Palace” makes it sound grand, like for kings and queens. But it’s just movies, I bet.

They got a bunch of these drive-ins all over Louisiana, not just New Orleans. So, if you’re drivin’ around the state, you might see one. Just gotta look for a big screen and a bunch of cars parked in a field. Can’t miss it, really.

Now, if you wanna find one close to you, you gotta do some lookin’. That internet thingy can help, they say. You type in your city and state, and it’ll tell ya where to go. Magical, ain’t it?

I heard they even make movies in New Orleans. This one movie, “People We Meet on Vacation,” they filmed it right here. Imagine that! Big movie stars walkin’ the same streets as us. They filmed some of it at a drive-in, too. A place called Matraville, way over in Sydney, though. Don’t make no sense to me, but that’s what they do.

And that Mark Wahlberg fella, he was in a movie filmed here too. “Contraband,” they called it. Lots of action, I hear. Not my cup of tea, but folks seem to like it.

So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do in New Orleans, or anywhere in Louisiana for that matter, try a drive-in movie. It’s a bit different, you know? Sit in your car, watch a movie under the stars. Just bring a comfy pillow, and maybe some bug spray. Them skeeters can be fierce.

And don’t forget the snacks! Can’t watch a movie without snacks. Popcorn, candy, maybe a soda pop. Or if you’re at one of them fancy places, maybe you can get a whole meal. Just don’t spill nothin’ on your car seats, that’s all I’m sayin’.

Anyways, that’s all I know ’bout these drive-in movie places. Hope it helps ya out. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. Got a hankerin’ for some grits and greens.
